I'm still angry about this mess of a movie. It's a hard book to adapt, but it feels like they made all the wrong choices.

S!B: It's a decade later and I can still easily go on a 30 minute rant on this topic. (A rant that I've already made several times)

A list of complaints:
(mostly spoiler-free)
-- miscast roles (esp Gary Oldman as Smiley)
-- gratuitous gore and death (a headshot, throat-slitting, and extra civilian casualties)
-- Ricki Tarr as a weepy, naive romantic instead of a cynical, ruthless professional
-- a final death scene without any of the complex emotional ambivalence
-- confusing plot presentation (lack of explanations, badly indicated flashbacks)
-- unnecessary minor cruelty to a child
-- underplaying Connie Sach's contribution

*Adding a gay character could have been handled better, but I didn't mind.

This may be my favorite game. And it's barely a game. More like a beautiful, erotic, abstract visualization of sex.
As much as I love it, I'd be too embarrassed to recommend (or even mention) it to any of my current friends.
