Yes, that's why Law and Order is called "copaganda". Cops and prosecutors are noble protectors (with the occasional bad one who is then shamed out of their profession) and defense attorneys are evil money-grubbing rats. Just think about who benefits from that portrayal and who doesn't.

Exactly. And not just defense attorneys. L&O has a real hate boner for Internal Affairs (IAB) which is an institution inside the police force which is there to investigate cops who break the law.

AYRT Yeah, I know someone who was a whistleblower in the police force (for serious wrongdoing), and he had to leave the force, move to another state, and he and his family still get death threats a decade later.

Another NAYRT

I thought there was some corruption in the IAB too? (In the show).

Accountability is important (very much so in Police departments), but so often it feels like an external investigation wouldn't be a bad idea either (should there be corruption within the offices that are supposed to hold everyone accountable).

The idea that public defenders are in it for the money is particularly enraging. They're civil servants and arguably serve the public more than cops do.

For me, this show had zero copaganda effect because of the ridiculous number of times they threatened suspects with prison rape if they didn't confess and never saw any consequences for it. I never understood how the writers thought "You know what would make the cops working to get justice for rape victims more sympathetic? Let them threaten potentially innocent people with rape every so often!".

was a good idea.
