I love Naruto, but I've never though of that before. Guess he's just that good a ninja.

-redemption for characters that didn't work for it. Got that right. Fuck Sasuke.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
SA whoops, misfire.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
lol you're not wrong.

also same for Orochimaru - I still understand how that guy got a pass and was allowed to live in the village (I didn't really get further than the very early part of boruto so no clue if that's changed - but still!)

Whoa, whoa, whoa. That F***nut was redeemed and just... hangs out in the village? I gave up sometime in Shippuden but seriously? We all knew Sasuke would be redeemed but Orochimaru? Woof

Sasuke sucks so bad. Sakura deserved better and it pissed me off that she continued carrying a torch for him even after all the shit he did.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
The fact that she kept carrying a torch for him while knowing full well all the shit he did makes her little better than he is. Fuck them both, they deserve each other.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
lol

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah... same for Zoro from One Piece. I know I know these are not at all realistic shows with realistic people but it still bothers me.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Love this layout XD

Naruto is one of those ones where I'm more engaged with the fandom than with the canon, because I think there are a lot of creators in the fandom who are better writers with more interesting ideas than Kishimoto. Come to think of it, that happens for me a lot with shonen...

This is (partially) a myth! If you lose an eye, you do lose depth perception but over time your brain re-learns it over time. If you were born with one eye, you probably have poor depth perception though.

OK, so Leela from Futurama would have no depth perception, then

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty much.

That was a joke in the first episode!

I don't remember it

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
How the hell can the brain re-learn depth perception, when depth perception comes from the fact that each eye looks at an object from a different angle? A single eye can't magically change location to gaze at an object from different angles at the same time. I call bullshit.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 11:02 am (UTC)(link)
My cousin lost an eye in an accident. He recently posted a video of Sammy Davis Jr talking about how he had to adapt to the loss of an eye and relearn all kinds of things that require depth perception. It was hard but he adapted. My cousin said it was a pretty good explanation of his own experience.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not re-learning to see depth, that's just learning to see without depth.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-10 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, be pedantic. You learn to compensate for the loss of the eye and to do the things that you need depth perception in order to do. I can't tell you what that looks like to the person with one eye. You better go argue with my cousin.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe it's more like you learn how to interpret where things are in space without actual depth perception? Like looking at a painting - it's 2D and there is no actual depth, but the artist uses various kinds of perspective to create the illusion of depth and communicate where things are in relation to each other.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Same as above, a persona can learn to see and interpret things without depth, but that's not the same as re-learning to see depth. The original comment was worded in a way making it sound it was the latter.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Lmao I've honestly never thought about Kakashi's lack of depth perception. I guess there were so many other bullshit things going on in Naruto that it never occurred to me to question something mundane like how Kakashi managed to do all those cool ninja things with one eye almost always covered up.
