Long-time Bob's Burgers fan, and I'm enamored with this show. I watched the two sneak-preview episodes like ten times each back in January.

They are still in production.

This was probably made before they aired the sixth episode (Pride & Prejudance Adventure) on Sunday the 14th, but they are making more. The seventh one (Period Piece Adventure) is supposed to air on the 21st. I have no idea how accurate it is, but IMDb says there are 12 episodes for this season (it is renewed for a second one, too),
but they have episode titles for 8-11 (Keep Beef-Lievin Adventure, The Adventures of Tusk Johnson Adventure, Cool Herring Runnings Adventure, and Yawn of the Logging Dead Adventure).

OMG YES! And if it's the occasional swear word or something, fine. But I read a lot of Clone Wars fic, and writers like to pepper that stuff with Mando'a. Or worse, entire scenes of dialogue in the language.

Usually there's a list of translations in the notes, but it does mean you have to keep going back-and-forth or ignore those words/miss half the fic until you get to the notes. On AO3 there's options to work with links to footnotes or even hovertext, but no one uses it!

Or you know, writers could just drop the whole thing. Because the language hasn't even shown up in any of the shows or movies as far as I know. Most of this stuff is from old Legends novels. Other fandoms do this too, like Tolkien for example, but nothing as bad as SW.

Yeah. It's not nearly as cringe worthy as anime fics but some of it definitely ranks up there. On one hand I do enjoy the level of world building but on the other it's incredibly annoying to not understand what's going on in large swathes of a fic. I find it's only really terrible for mandalorians/clones though there are the rare few who know how to use it sparingly to great effect.

Unfortunately, using foreign languages is a pretty canonical thing going back to A New Hope and Return of the Jedi. Huttese is based on Quechua, and indigenous language from the Andes. (Much like Leia's buns were based on a Hopi hairstyle.) They don't say what Ubese language (the bounty hunter alien type Leia was pretending to be) is based on at all.

There's over 6 million forms of communication and those are the ones C-3PO knows! So, I mean, it's not surprising and makes more sense in Star Wars than say, it does in a japan based story written in English. I mean, take Chewie and R2-D2, they have other characters translating for them or significant pauses where you're supposed to infer what they say by the reactions of those around them.

This is giving me flashbacks to the Firefly/Serenity fandom though. No one could get it right on how to include the Chinese/translations.

I'll always think Serena yelling, "Yours are funny looking JUST LIKE YOU!", is way funnier than Usagi (in the Viz dub) yelling, "And all of yours are SUPER UGLY!", during the cookie scene in the SuperS movie. Wish they could've kept that line in for the Viz dub, but I've heard rumors that Toei would only give them the rights to the series if they were faithfully adapted, so that might have had something to do with it.

There were a ton of things that added humor and charm to the original dub that I do miss in the new one; and honestly the different voice actresses are what make it so much harder to watch. It's such a dumb thing to get hung up on, but it's what I know!
