If you’re a fan of Whedon’s work, then I hope you enjoy the show, OP.

But I don’t think the reviewers meant “Whedonesque” as any kind of reference to the recent hits to his reputation. More than likely, it’s meant to tell readers that the show uses the same formula that most of Whedon’s work does. Over and over and over again. The same character tropes, the same dialogue beats, the same plot “twists”, etc.

And no judgement to those viewers who enjoy Whedon’s formula, but I don’t, not anymore.
