Like, seriously, this secret and some of the comments. Wow. I wish I lived in your world where my biggest problem with the nature of millennial female existence is that I'm not portrayed as cool enough in the media. That teenagers don't give me enough respect (they're never going to do that). I really thought that in 2021, we have finally come to realize the pitfall of the Girl Boss empowerment narrative, but guess not.

Of course TS has power, OP. Rich, white women have power! The hilarious thing is that you think the rest of us weren't aware of that and needed to be reminded. If your biggest concern is that people think you're basic, then I don't know what to tell you, it seems your rage really isn't loud enough.

I can only think that you're either a man, twelve and raised on Tumblr, or a POC participant in the everything-must-be-about-oppression Olympics who nevertheless only measures the entire world by their own personal experiences.

I'm the exact demographic you would expect to still be on FS in 2021, a TSwift-listening millennial woman who doesn't much care for the Very Online pace of contemporary fandom, which is exactly why I'm just baffled that this is somehow a thing with us. Talk about oppression olympics. The teens being too mean to you? Why don't you just, idk, Shake It Off?

Ah the positivity police are in force I see.

No, just the 30-somethings that don't feel threatened by what schoolchildren say about them. Which should be all the 30-somethings,really.

So fun fact, you can address the bigger issues and also be annoyed by generational politics. It's... not hard.

In fact, this is the same argument used by shitty dudebros who want to shut down real conversation about the struggles women face.

So good job, champ. You're DOIN' it. (Want a sticker?)

Generational politics is largely silly and useless, so if you want to push back against accusations of being those things, don't make that bulk of your complaint. Sorry, no, I just don't consider friction with Gen Z or or basic bitch memes to be representative of "struggles women face". I wish.

+10000000

I don't particularly care what Gen Z think of me, but I'm also not out here trying to police what other people feel hurt and offended by, and mocking people for being hurt and offended by something that doesn't bother me.

going by the comments here i'm doing adulthood wrong. apparently i'm supposed to be DEEPLY bothered if teens don't respect me or think i'm cool. my self-esteem is meant to be so low a random teenager maybe thinking i'm lame should SHATTER ME and be considered the highest form of oppression in the universe, and then ofc i should start screaming about ageism+sexism while being sexist to those young girls right back. because that's how i show those stupid teenagers who live in my head rent free! this will prove me unbothered!!

In my thirties, I feel that I have more social capital and freedom to navigate the world than I ever did in my teens or even well into my twenties. Millennials are poised to take over the cultural narrative. Hell, we're already doing that, increasingly responsible for the majority of popular media content. Our generation is big as hell, we can really do a thing or two if only we can wrestle political power away from the dinosaurs. I don't understand the passivity in the language of the secret. Millennial women have been "given up on"? We need to "get back some respect"? Who the fuck is out here defining us if not ourselves?

Yes, memes are the domain of the kids... because that's basically the only method they have to exercise any kind of control over the cultural narrative.

yeah i just cannot for the life of me muster up any energy to be mad a teenagers for... being teenagers. they make fun of things, it's what they do, and what they've always done and frankly my generation was no different at all, but from what i see on here people my own age sure as hell think we were.

the notion that we're ignored is such a strange one because we're not? media and political movements are more and more in our control as time goes on, we'll be running this show after the current lot in power so how exactly are we 'missing out'? tbh so much of this shit comes off as insecure projection not dissimilar from those white male nerds who keep insisting that they're somehow the underdogs when they run the world in most cases.

no one is 'keeping us down' especially not the teenagers making silly jokes on the internet.
