St Diana multiply cheated too, but hey, she can't be criticised. OK then

It's a bummer when you miss your bus. It's sad when the bus hits a cat.

Totally synonymous for me

It's a McDonald's meal so it's not bound to be particularly spicy. I'd say mildly hot at most, like a flavor tinge.

Netflix is releasing a movie trilogy based on the Fear Street books

Seems like YA horror is the next big thing. What YA/kid horror do you want to see a movie of?

(Anonymous) 2021-06-10 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
DA
Are you kidding?! Why would anyone do that?

Nice!

How-deeee!

True, but that's mostly red meat that gives the problems. I was a vegetarian for about 8 years and added in chicken and fish no problems. Red meat took a bit longer. Apparently it's harder for vegans though.

No, it's so great! I have old comics dating back to the 1970s and the best thing about them is the ancient toy ads. Once the computer game ads start it's even better.

As a 27+ year vegetarian who broke ranks only once in my teens to have a spoonful of homemade bouillabaisse at my uncle's insistence, I don't think this is true, food is food. If I ate a bunch of mcnuggets (ew) and then a bunch of fried stuff I might get sick because it was too much food, not because there was meat in it.

Don't be dismissive of the charity side - she did amazing work for AIDS patients very early in the epidemic. At a stage when nobody knew how it was transmitted and people (including children) were driven out of their homes for having it, she went into hospitals and shook hands (without gloves) and hugged patients. It was a massive turn-around and I don't think people who weren't there at the time can understand how important it was.

The RL Stine Babysitter series. I loved them as a kid. They were incredibly fucked up.

Good news: Robert Englund has joined the cast of Stranger Things 4! I also began watching the film "Crimson Peak" on Netflix, and the Russian series "To the Lake".

Bad news: I got my period early, during a June heatwave. Meh.

Trying to write a fic that one of my muses has been bugging me to write for a couple months, stymied by my GI tract doing awful things and the muse in question getting partway in and realizing "oh actually this really sucks for me, I don't want to do this anymore". And I'm like WELL DUH WHAT DID YOU EXPECT, and I'm writing it even if I can't post it unless he cooperates during the editing process and makes it more coherent.

And not unrelated, wondering how to tag/warn on a fic that does not contain character death, but is entirely about one character finding out about and reacting to (canonical) character death.

Not in the US but I have noticed that certain items (McChicken for example) taste REALLY different in the US compared to Canada so I wonder if it's a regional thing? I don't find McD's gross, especially not in comparison to any other fast food burger place.

I forget where I saw this-- with a group of friends, I think, so half-watching it-- and frankly was more surprised than sad given that we had some really goofy jokes (like the one about Dolemite) and then suddenly that ending. More of a "Did I just see what I thought I saw?"

Honest question:

Is cheating because you're in a relationship with someone who came INTO IT cheating as bad as cheating on someone who's not already an asswipe?

Because Di wasn't a saint and yeah she cheated, but he's still worse IMO.

Are you annoyed at the concept of celebrity McDonald meals or the concept of celebrities that you don't like existing

Strangely, I'm also in my mid thirties and all I remember was everybody wetting themselves with admiration over Diana.

Everyone seemed to adore her. I didn't see the appeal, she was just a sad looking woman with bad hair and who wore more outfits than a clothes horse and did a lot for charity, but everyone else seemed to just love her. And fair enough, her charity was a serious thing back then, she did things others wouldn't, and if she should be known for that, that's understandable. I always remember her being the nation's darling.

I don't remember the idea of her being an awful person, though. Nothing besides rumours of Harry being an illegitimate child of her and either James Hewitt or some sportsman or other. Other than that, all I remember of the Royal Family news was how Charles was shagging Camilla and that it wasn't even much of a secret, despite their marriage.

Overall, I found it all very boring ... then I remember the breaking news report concerning her death. Really vividly.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and any of Bruce Coville's books (I bought the Book of Nightmares as a kid, and it was the only book that ever genuinely scared me).
