Who are the celebrities you used to love who turned out to be awful people?

Inspired by my rewatching of Project Runway season 8 and Michael Costello currently being in the news. I used to love him. I still stand by him being great during Project Runway and hating that he got ganged up on. I hate bullying even of people I don't like, and Gretchen and Ivy were awful people.

But it turns out he's a racist, awful person now and probably always. So while I'm on his side on PR, as a person I can't love him anymore.

I wasn't like a megafan of his, but I enjoyed Noel Clarke's work and was enthusiastic when I saw he was involved with a project I was interested in. Loved Bulletproof and was looking forward to it continuing. Yeah, turns out he was a scumbag.

Robert Webb being a complete transphobe really tarnished Peep Show for me. Haven't rewatched it in years now, it used to be one of those I went back to pretty often.

I have never really cared enough about a celebrity to be seriously let down by them (except for people who are apparently genuinely awesome in real life like Weird Al :D My hero~~~), but I was kind of disappointed by Michael Richards (speaking of Weird Al, heh) and Mel Gibson (still will not let it ruin the Lethal Weapon series for me though).

Not really a celeb per se, but, Joss Whedon. :/

Martin Freeman, not so much because I think he's a horrible person. I don't think he's horrible so much as just...unpleasant and a prick? But the disappointment hit harder because he made such a career out of playing friendly, unassuming everyman characters whom you're happy to identify with because they seem like nice, relatable blokes*. So to find out he apparently isn't much like the characters he plays was more off-putting than it would usually be.

*admittedly, John Watson became less and less of a nice chill bloke and more and more of a miserable ragey dude in need of serious therapy as the series went on.

I only ever had one song by the Lostprophets but I loved it - instantly deleted it after I heard the singer was arrested for being a major pedophile and child rapist.

I have issues with movies by John Landis and Roman Polanski.

Basically any celeb who jumped on the anus tangerinus' bandwagon, especially if they're still there. Hard for me to respect anyone who supports a narcissistic, lying, cheating, incestuous rapist conman who's bad with money and incited an insurrection.

Bill Cosby. I used to listen to some of the albums from the 80s (back when comedy album were still a thing).

Arnold Schwarzenegger, way too much smoke about sexual abuse of fans from way back. Not that any of it is prosecutable, but I can't get "plo chops" (blow jobs) out of my brain when I see him on-screen.

Missing person

I just found out that I might have seen a missing hiker a couple days back and now feel ridiculously guilty for not somehow knowing earlier and contacting police earlier or like even asking the missing person in question where they were going since they were all alone on a trail.

It's completely irrational because the earliest post on the news about it was written so vaguely I wouldn't have connected the two together but a part of me feels extremely guilty for not being able to contact the police/SARS earlier since time is super critical for the situation.

I just hope someone else on the trails remembers where exactly they were going but it's been 2 nights already and if the guy is injured or not near water it's looking very dire and certain areas of the trails are extremely dangerous. ;-;

Holiday Weekend sales

Is anyone else buying anything with the holiday weekend sales?

Bought a whole bunch of new work clothes yesterday and today. Well, I bought a couple and then my parents bought me a bunch more. New job starts on Tuesday, and a lot of my work clothes are too big at this point. Bought blazers, pants, dresses, and a couple shirts.

So, using Letterboxd adjacent to The Criterion Channel the past couple weeks has been the most fun I've had all year, renewing my love of classic cinema.

Also, I really hope that all of the tourists that are here in my city leave soon. Sigh. There's so much litter everywhere now and traffic is awful.
