(Anonymous) 2021-08-04 12:50 am (UTC)(link)I still love those characters when the narrative recognizes their bullshit as bullshit, recognizes that they're a bit pathetic underneath is all, and challenges them to change. But when the narrative instead seems to uncritically glory in how much smarter and cooler and better they are than all the sheeple, that's a huge nope from me.
From what I recall, there was some of both in House. He was framed as both awesome and a mess. But I suspect the narrative came down a bit too much on the "awesome" side of the equation for my present-day liking--even if I ignore the later seasons.
