I suppose the reaction might be different if it was new, but it is still around (including on tumblr) and I weirdly enough haven't seen that many negative reactions to it. Or to Obi-Wan/Anakin which is just as big a ship.

There is some discussion about who you can ship the clones with, considering their accelerated aging. And you know, clonecest. But even those conversations are pretty mild.

Thank you, OP. I never realized before how lovely this aspect of SW fandom is. Even if it is just my corner of the fandom, it's still nice.

Eh. People stay friends with genuinely shitty people all the time, for years, for the same reasons anyone stays in any relationship (platonic and/or romantic) with meh-to-shitbag range people. Relationships are complicated, people second guess themselves a lot, and very few people can objectively calculate that point where an old friend has become too toxic to stick with, so they remain stagnant.

It's not that hard to imagine staying friends with someone where you're not sure how they'd react to your sexuality and you were too afraid to pull off the band-aid and find out.

Its committment to never having its lead character never learn any lesson or suffer any consequences far outstrips any entertainmaint value, and it has even outstripped the classic and next gen series in using the reset button in regard their behavior. evEn nex tgen characters developed more over season one of the show than lower dechs has done with its lead.

I cannot imagine being friends with someone, much less having serious feelings of attraction toward, someone who I am not sure might literally kill me, according to the earlier anon's gay panic example, for having those feelings toward them or someone else. Or someone who might think I'm disgusting for it. The fact that this is possible and that I don't know for sure would turn me right off any affection for them. If I don't know for sure, then they can stay at arms length until they prove whether they're a bigot or not, because as a queer person, I sure am not diving into decades of good friendship without that being on my mind to clear up beforehand.

As a SW fan, there's been a little wank about it here and there, because oMg tEaCHeR AnD stUdENt pOwER ImbalAncE BAD!!1!!111, but this isn't a pairing I'm into so it's avoidable for me. I've seen wank regarding Obi-Wan/Anakin for the same reason (with age gap wank thrown in for good measure). Big fandom = lots of crackpot fans.

It is Friday. This is the first weekend I've actually had mostly free. Dad and I are going to do a LOTR extended marathon. Right now I'm exhausted from a really long week, so I'm probably going to sleep soon. Yes, it is only 6:30 on a Friday, but I'm tired.

I will right now if it is something I really want to see because I'm happy to pay for something good, and I can't safely go to the theater right now. I did buy/rent Black Widow on Disney Plus. And I would do the same for Shang Chi if they were going to have it on Plus.

Getting up early to work out, bc tomorrow is the start of the US college football season and I want to watch games all day. My husband is making us BBQ wings and fried plantains to snack on (my favorites!!!). Its supposed to be screaming hot here tomorrow so I'll be making a big pitcher of sun tea. Sunday will be a lazy day, maybe at the beach.
