she was somewhere in the range of shady to racist about John Boyega in defense of Rey (or Kylo/Rey depending on how you see the context) and that joke about laying the pipe he made. Shady obviously isn't a problem but racist is, and she's since deleted some tweets so who knows?

This thread is a mess so here's my view: John Boyega posted an Instagram caption about Rey that had sexual implications and Jenny tweeted about it, calling it misogynistic. After this I guess reylos attacked John and other people attacked Jenny calling her a racists. There were also some faked tweets of Jenny circulating in Twitter with racist remarks.

I don't know much about the others, but god the Lindsey Ellis witch hunt was so fucking gross. The comprehensive video she made addressing the entire thing was fantastic, though, and I'm eternally here for it.

I think what people did to her was wayyyy over the top, but there is something that strikes me as super weird about the video she made in response. Right in the middle, there was a big segment about her former roommate's sexual assault. I struggle to see how this is in any way relevant to what was happening to Ellis online, and for that matter, does she have this woman's permission to share her trauma publicly like that? I feel like it wouldn't take much for people to dig up her identity just based on the information given in that video. Big yikes.

I'd almost forgotten about this but now it's bothering me all over again. Maybe I'll make a secret about it.

It was relevant because of her own sexual assault that happened at the time, and how she and her roommate handled that together, leading to coping responses that lead to the joke she made that was posted without her consent and that people used against her as a weapon.

She made that video to directly address all the charges being led against her. One of them was for a video she made many years ago that joked about sexual assault. She made it as a way of coping with her own sexual assault, on the understanding that the video wouldn't be posted because it was personal and private. Her channel then claimed ownership of it and posted it anyway, against her wishes and without her consent. And now fucking idiots on the internet had taken it upon themselves to shame her for it. For the video she made to help her cope with being sexually assaulted, which was then posted without her consent. So yeah. She was wholly and entirely within her rights to basically just say "fuck everyone" at that point.
