Unfortunately, there are a lot of assholes who claim to be feminists. They don't seem to realise that being a feminist means that you are just as supportive to woman who chose not to have children as you are to those who do.

I've seen so-called feminists work themselves up into a froth about the selfishness of women who chose not to experience the joys of motherhood.

I appreciate this comment, because these sorts of issues make me want to pull my hair out. Being a feminist should be about supporting women in ALL their endeavors, not belittling them for their decisions, even if you don't agree with those decisions. Sometimes people make choices you can't even fathom the logic behind, but it's their freedom to do so, and that women do in fact have the freedom to make their own choices should be celebrated.

See, to me, being a feminist isn't about supporting women. It's about supporting everyone regardless of their sex or gender in having equal treatment, opportunities, and respect, whether it be a woman not having kids, or a man choosing to be a stay-at-home dad, or even a trans person's right just to use the proper restroom.

I definitely agree with you. My comment focused on women since the topic was more about women and generally feminism tends to gravitate towards them as well, which is why I hesitate to even use the term, but that's neither here nor there... Really, I think the more important thing is that everyone be treated equally, for better and for worse, and allowed the freedom to make the decisions they choose, and granted the respect to do so.

My philosophy is that as long as you're not hurting anyone or anything, do whatever you like. :) Everyone's entitled to at least that.
