I'm writing a fic that is based in a fandom that's pretty much dead. I'm expecting most of its readership to be fans of the main kink and not familiar with the Canon.

I find myself with the dilemma of having to write more physical description than I otherwise would.

This is my question- what's the best way to build in physical descriptors to your characters? I seem to be hitting cheesy notes with it over and over again.

Americans of FS, what do you say instead of 'meant'? As in the past tense of mean. I cannot for the life of me think of an alternative, as 'meaned' seems all sorts of wrong right this second.

What do you do when you come back to a draft after a while and everything just... sucks?

It's not a question of quality. I know I'm a competent writer and I've had feedback from multiple sources that my current draft reads well. I liked it a month ago, too, and was looking forward to editing - but after taking a break from it, all the music is gone. It's like I've woken up from a dream and now everything in my room has been nudged just slightly to the left. I keep asking people what's wrong with it. I tell them to take a fine-toothed comb to the piece and nitpick for mistakes. They can't do anything but suggest substitutions for words or a change of phrase here and there, and it feels like I'm going mad.

FWIW, these feelings coincide with the start of my depressive episode a couple of weeks ago, so maybe that has something to do with it. Still, anyone else know how it feels? I swear I'm dissociating or something, it feels totally unreal.

A friend on facebook just published a meme about the upcoming Spidermen movie ending in the Nickleback song "Hero." So that's all I'll be hearing for the next three days.

The theme that plays on the Paradise Planning resort island in Animal Crossing. I don't know why that gets stuck in my head more than any other AC music these days. (I did spend some time over there today but spent more time actually designing a house for Tank, so I don't know why the island theme is in my brain.)

There was a tv movie, a very old one-from about 1978 if imdb is to be believed, called Lacy and the Mississippi Queen. It had a nice country-style theme tune "Most Unlikely Pair I Ever Seen". I have fragments of it stuck in my brain. Normally the thing to do to clear an earworm is to just listen to the song in full and following it to the end sort of reboots the relevant part of the brain and lets the earworm end.

Did I mention this was from an obscure tv movie from 1978?

You can guess where this is going? Yep, neither the movie nor the song exist anywhere on the 'net. It isn't on any streaming service, it isn't on Amazon as a soundtrack, it isn't even on the pirate sites. I am stuck with an earworm I can never clear. God-fucking-dammit.

And if anyone has a copy, or knows where I can stream the song or the movie, please let me know. Please? I'm begging.

On my phone I have Tuvok from Star Trek Voyager as a lockscreen and a pride flag collage as the wallpaper.

On my tablet I have fan art of Gaara from Naruto.

On my phone I have a picture of Nightwing diving from a tall building across a bright blue sky, on my computer I have one of the pictures that come standard. A tent against stars I think.

On my computers I tend to just go to APOD and browse until I find something pretty. Both my lock screen and wallpaper are from there, but darned if I could find them again (except that presumably they were both from around December of last year because that's when I got this laptop).

My cell phone has been using this Watership Down art as background and lock screen through, well, the last few cell phones, because bunnies and trees.
