Based on 2 - talk interior decorating to me

I'm not loving the current fashions, especially gray gray gray.

What about you, FS? Any current trends you love? Any unfashionable styles/colors? Tell me about your current and ideal interiors.

Honestly, my ideal involves reds, oranges, and/or greys and also a bunch of nerdy things. I totally want to have posters of my favorite things up. Also pictures of my cat.

Also, I prefer geometric patterned things over floral. Florals are just really boring to me.

And wherever I live has to have lots of bookshelves, so whatever decoration there is has to match with nice floor to ceiling bookshelves.

...I know nothing of interior design that isn't Animal Crossing, lol. Though on that topic I have learned I have three distinct favorite things to make for the client:

- zen/harmonious
- lovely garden
- RETRO SCI-FI SUPERVILLAIN

It's possibly a good thing my "I should be an interior designer!" phase IRL was short-lived.

I love the cottagecore/dark academia aesthetics so I would ideally love a home that reflects that eventually (prices way too high for my own house/rent atm). Some rattan/Morocco inspired looks here and there too.

Otoh my knowledge is limited to Animal Crossing and I love the zen series, the ranch series, the elegant series and the rattan series (in white and black only).

I actually really like the grey trend. I hate the more beigey neutrals (probably a side effect of my mother painting every room magnolia when I was growing up), so grey is a nice neutral colour that looks clean and modern to me.

Scandi design is a favourite aesthetic of mine. I find the colours really soothing and it's minimalistic without being too spartan; clean but also cozy and comfortable at the same time.

If I had unlimited money and could hire someone, my place would be 'hobbit chic'. Which honestly is probably just a more colourful version of cottagecore but I grew up in my Grandma's house in Northwich where it was all squishy chairs and red/gold rugs and pillows, etc so I think 'cozy and colourful' heavily influenced my likes.

Though the guy from Preppy Kitchen on youtube has a gorgeous white/hunter green/copper kitchen scheme that I adore too.

Anything but white on white on white ugh.

Scandinavian minimalism is my personal favorite. It’s very light and bright, but also very cozy~ But I also like the idea of having a little princess’ bedroom. It’d have a canopy bed, one of those hanging chairs (as part of a reading nook), and plenty of shelves and places for my stuffed animals.

If I won the lotto I'd either buy a painted lady Victorian or have my boring late 1940s tract house made to look like one, and decorate the inside like a colorblind magpie, with an exuberant garden outside and a stream or pond.

I hate minimalism and I hate neutrals. Seeing decorating magazines have actual color (sometimes colors, plural!) on the covers for the last year and change has been a relief, even though I don't gaf about following trends.

I'm hoping it makes colorful and ornate furniture and housewares easier to find, even if 90% of my decorating is based on what I can lug home from secondhand shops.

I'm all about the zen aesthetic: clear open rooms with plenty of hidden storage, screen doors and wood paneling, bamboo and pebbles, that kinda vibe.

Guilty Pleasure Music

(Anonymous) 2021-12-05 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Any music that is a guilty pleasure for you, something you embarrassed about and only play with headphones on?

Re: Guilty Pleasure Music

(Anonymous) 2021-12-05 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I’m not a huge fan of her personality wise but Taylor Swift’s music occasionally makes it to my playlist

I downloaded it from Youtube so I wouldn't give him money, but I really like Forever by Chris Brown. I like a couple other of his songs too, though not as much as that one.

I feel way more guilty, though, about loving the song Irish Volunteers. It is a song about Irish-Americans volunteering for the North during the civil war, but it uses the tune of a southern song. I've never played it where anyone else can hear.

I too am going with the "don't care anymore" philosophy. I used to be moderately self-conscious about liking a couple Lady Gaga and Pink songs because I have never been a huge fan of modern pop (pop from the 50s-70s definitely, just not so much 80s+) but thing is they are genuinely talented and pretty awesome human beings, so I'm not going to be ashamed to say they do some good stuff.

Want U Back by Cher Lloyd
Blurred Lines by Robin Thick
The Bad Touch by Bloodhound Gang
Sexyback by Justin Timberlake
It’s All Coming Back To Me Now by Celine Dion

I’m a fan of Taylor Swift and individually I don’t consider her songs guilty pleasures. But her music is still a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, purely because I like so much of it. Like, I know the words to over 100 of her songs.

I’m also very ambivalent about a lot of Lana Del Rey’s songs. The sentiments expressed in her music often personify a lot of toxic, outdated gender-role bullshit, and while sometimes she’s deconstructing those concepts, other times she isn’t. In fact, much of what makes her songs so compelling is that they tend to feel like they contain layers of self-awareness and conceptual deconstruction sandwiched between layers of romanticization and idealization of those exact same concepts. It’s a trip. And it’s great music. But a lot of it also makes me deeply uncomfortable.

Cascada is forever linked to bad anime AMVs from 10 years ago but damn were the songs catchy. They'll still pop up as earworms all this time later and I don't complain!

I have a huge playlist on my mp3 player full of fan songs, nightcore as well as English translations of Hatsune Miku songs and anime openings.

And more so there's fan songs from fandom's that I've never really been into but sounds too good; like bendy and the ink machine, five nights at Freddie's and the infamous discord song for my little pony.

A lot of 80's-90's songs and Slow+reverb/Daycore remixes.

Christina D'Avena.

Not because I'm embarrassed, but because I think her music sounds better with earbuds.

I'm picky.

Just spent 30 minutes trying to find something to watch...

Between HBOMax, Hulu, Netflix, and Disney Plus and couldn't find anything I wanted. What are you all watching?

Right now I have a migraine, so nothing. Reading erotica ebooks. The next thing I'm going to watch when this headache goes away is episode 7 of the current season of project runway and the most recent episode of 911.

As for new shows, the two I'm enjoying are Star Trek:Prodigy and Wheel of Time.

Reposting others' fics for archival purposes

(Anonymous) 2021-12-05 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
What's the thinking in fandom these days about this:
Old, dead, obscure fandom and fics on a single obscure fan page that's miraculously still around. Inactive author. We're talking over a decade.

Would it be beyond the pale to repost to AO3 and orphan the works, just to get them in another place? Keep my own copies and hold off until if/when the fansite finally dies? Never ever, that's too tacky to do at all?

Fic recs needed!

(Anonymous) 2021-12-05 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
Hey everyone, can you recommend me the weirdest and most outlandish porn fics you've ever read?

I'm talking "going back in time to bang dinosaurs" weird or "getting absorbed in a giant pudding and laying eggs" weird.
Basically, give me the craziest, out-of-the-box fics, where you just have to wonder how people come up with these things.

Please no rape or character death and no fics in process.

Thank you!
