Are there any music artists you discovered through Youtube?

Riell is one of my absolute favorites, and I first heard her on Youtube. Also heard Beth Crowley first there and love her.

I heard a bunch of different pagan/celtic/viking groups first on Youtube.

Sabaton is now my absolute favorite music group, and I've bought everything of theirs, and I first discovered them on Youtube.

Heather Dale. I like that sort of fake-folk music. Julia Ecklar and Kathy Mar too.

Wagakki Band. They just showed up on my recommended one day and I have no idea how I went so long without listening to their music.

Too many to list, really. YouTube seems to be where I discover the majority of new artists and songs. And it’s been that way since at least the early 2010s, if not since YouTube’s inception. Especially now that I don’t really listen to the radio much.

United Intonations; they're a string quintet, but they do a huge variety of things, and they have great energy :)

What's the weird shit your pets do?

(Anonymous) 2022-01-06 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
So my cat has a habit of peeling magnets off the fridge and taking them to hide up on top of the bookshelves to chew on. Why, cat.

My cat now likes to sleep on top of my legs.

Yesterday she jumped up onto the table in front of my mom's chair to lick at the remains of mom's soft-boiled egg.

She's a little acrobat, which is how she got her most common nickname, Squirmy. When we play, she makes it as hard as possible for herself by reaching around tables and chairs at the toy I'm swinging. She'll roll around on the ground and up and down cat trees. She can jump up things, but she prefers to climb.

Her newest favorite place to nap in the afternoon is the shelf in the very top of my dad's closet.

She has so many toys, but her favorite things to try to play with are hair ties, cords, shoelaces, and anything remotely string-like.

She loves to race ahead of us, between our legs, to get wherever we are going to. And then acts horribly offended if we accidentally step on her.

She can now get into treat bags, so we have to hide them really well. She can also open doors and turn on faucets.

She seems to believe I can control the wind and the temperature? She hates the wind and the cold, but she will insist on going out on the porch, and then meow plaintively at me like she thinks I can do something about the weather.

If I am getting ice, she demands one ice cube to play with as tribute.

When we clean out our cats' water and food bowls, one of my cats will go and sit in the spot where the bowls normally sit, as though she's waiting for us to put them back or letting us know that they're not there or something.

That same cat also meows up a storm when we have to put her in her carrier to take her somewhere and constantly tries to wrestle out of being put in the carrier...but when the carrier is just sitting there on its own, she'll go curl up in there and fall asleep.

Our other cat, meanwhile, will bat at her tail when she's sitting somewhere and sees it flopping about. And even after she's got her paws on her tail to keep it steady, if it's still twitching at all, she'll tilt her head and look at her tail all curious, like, "How come you're still moving?"

She also likes to chase her tail a lot :D.

Our house was redone many years ago, and what is now a bedroom used to be a living room, so it has two doors on adjacent walls. One door faces a bathroom, the other door faces the kitchen. Our cat refuses to go through the kitchen-facing door, when she leaves the kitchen she goes all the way down the hall and around to the bathroom-facing door to go into the bedroom. She doesn't care if the kitchen-facing door is closed but pitches a fit if the other one is.

She's also obsessed with fresh corn husks. Not corn itself, not the cornsilk, not dried husks, just fresh husks still on the ears when we bring them home from the farmers' market in the summer. She assumes any plastic bag someone comes home with has corn in it and will jump up on the dining room table waiting for someone to put the bag down for her to investigate and munch on husks. She does not otherwise care about cat grass, catnip, or other greens, though she did go after a ginger stalk the one time we bought a whole plant. I think the leaves looked similar enough to fool her.

my cat makes biscuits and then jumps off the bed to lick himself, as well as lay on my yoga mat when I'm trying to do exercise and insist on being petted when he ignores me most of the time. he also screms at 3am and does a loop around the house but I think that's normal, and will jump on tv cabinets if he's in a mood

Heee!

Diana gets Rattley Black Mouse in her mouth, then carries him up the hall while she *moans* like something dying, then drops him at my feet. She also likes to drown him in the water dish.

Jack turns in circles forever (and claws my monitor), until he FINALLY lays the fuck down on my desk.

Oliver likes to chew plastic and he runs like a weasel, doing this little bouncy thing with his tail out flat.

My youngest dog likes to “show” me all of her toys(as well as things that aren’t meant to be toys, but she snatched up to chew on anyways). She basically brings it with her, and gets up close to my face. She doesn’t want to play tug of war or fetch with them, because she’ll move her head around trying to make sure I can’t take it, and when I do manage to, she doesn’t try to tug it back, and will just stare when I throw it for her to fetch. And while she’s showing me her toys, she’ll talk up a storm, very excitedly. It’s kind of a “woar-oar” type of sound she makes to talk.

She’s very talkative in general, really. Not just barking or howling, just making all kinds of noises. And if someone who’s not me scares her or accidentally steps on her, she’ll talk at them too in offense. While perched safely on top of me, of course.

Speaking of, she likes to rest of top of breasts while people are sitting. That’s her favorite spot on me for resting(and standing sometimes), instead of my lap. It weirded out one of my friends when she did it to her once, and made one of my other friends feel insecure when she couldn’t find the amount of cushioning she was used to go rest comfortably on. I have a feeling my dog will be disappointed when I go for a breast reduction, because she won’t have as much to lay on.

And I know that other dogs do this, so it’s not a unique thing, but I had never seen in person a dog basically dance on their back legs until I got my dog. She loves to stand on her back legs when I come home, and goes in circles while trying to balance on them.

My other two dogs have distinct personalities, and lots of cute things they do, but none of them are really all that strange like my youngest dog.

My cat, when I was staying in Oklahoma last year, liked to jump up on your shoulders and stay there, even as you moved around. We nicknamed her Monkey because of that (as in "Monkey on your back") She also liked to sleep on top of your head when you went to sleep at night.

Memorable Author's Notes or Comments to Fics

(Anonymous) 2022-01-06 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Just picked up the part two of a fic series I'm reading and I'm guessing past comments have invited the following warning from the author:

Dark content...blah blah blah..."shut up about how sexist the characters are and that you don't want kids. I don't care. The setting is sexist and the character has six kids. Keep scrolling".

A/N is a good chunk of the page. Not to mention the tags! Who is reading this that leaves these comments?! Did you not check the tags? Did you keep scrolling past the A/N and the all caps part???? And what compelled you to write a comment?! This is like going to a restaurant that only serves sandwiches and complaining that they only serve sandwiches. WHY ARE YOU HERE??? Lol

Well, I've had a couple of comments, I think from the same person (the comments were phrased the same way), to a couple of my PWPs, about how I'm ruining the Tolkien fandom by writing smut. Those were pretty memorable to me.

I mentioned this before, but I will never forget the author's note informing me that the author came three times during the process of writing the first chapter.

pantswarrior: I torture not because I love, but because I hate. (author is a sadist)

There are a couple of fics I've written that ... I just love the comments. They make me grin like the sadistic author that I, to be honest, absolutely am. Things like:

"I hate you, you made me cry in public, so I'm going to read this again when I'm alone at home tonight so I can cry properly"
"please pay for my therapy"
"I've read this story like ten times but never commented until now because I was crying so hard by the end"
"I just want you to know you have destroyed my life" (I actually had one person leave comments to this effect multiple times on a certain fic, when they came back to read it again and again, and noted that they still hated me, lol)

That same fic got a comment the other day and I saw the notification email pop up on my phone, where it was truncated at "I only noticed the tags after I" ...I was like "...ohhhhhh nooooooo...." XD (Fortunately the reader wound up enjoying it despite "major character death", oops...) I am just really entertained by how creative the readers sometimes get at expressing how much they love/hate me for those fics. (I assume they're exaggerating, but still quite pleased that I apparently managed to write something that touched people enough to prompt such reactions. I love you, readers of tragedy! :D)

And then there's the occasional really random thing. Like one I remember in particular, it was a shippy fic, and someone left a comment on it which was very nice, bordering on gushing, but in the middle they threw in "X and Y are such loving siblings!" ...For one thing that's a huge spoiler, for another Y never appeared or was mentioned in the fic, for yet another I don't think X and Y ever interact (or are implied to have interacted in the past) in canon. o_o But uh, I do like Y also, he's a sweet kid, so okay, reader! :D
