You're missing the point of the majority of those secrets, OP. The problem isn't people liking slash or disliking female characters, it's when they have sexist and/or misogynist reasons for doing so, which is a symptom of a larger problem. There's nothing wrong with liking slash (heck, I'm an avid slash fan myself), but when your justification for liking it is "the female characters all suck and the guys are too good for them," that's a very misogynistic point of view and yes, people probably WILL call you on it. Likewise when people dislike or bash female characters for the sole reason that they're female.

Really liking a character does not equal worship. I don't worship him in the least but he moves me and I feel affection for him because there are certain aspects he has that are pitiably, interesting and sadly enough, things I can identify with. The people/fandorks who are just in it for the cool are probably the ones that you are speaking about, but still, just because you don't get it doesn't mean anyone else is wrong. I fucking hated TDK but I can see from someone else's perspective why someone might like it. It's enriching, give it a shot.
