Haha, yeah, they had some very bizarre episodes, to be sure (the "Fairy Tale" episode is a TRIP and a half). I found out a few years back that a couple of the people who wrote for the Monkees' TV show also wrote for "Get Smart", which explains so much (especially given how many spy spoof episodes the Monkees had).

But their bizarre nature is also part of their charm in some ways :D. And I definitely agree with you on Mike - when I was little and watching the reruns with my mom (I too was raised on the Monkees, my mom's an original generation fan), I liked Davy.

Then a few years ago some channel started showing reruns and I would catch them with my mom and got a whole new appreciation for Mike. Smart, quiet guy with a wry/dry sense of humor? Just my type :p.
