Which is preferable- a few months of severe economic pressure on Russia as a whole that may lead to Putin backing the fuck off and Ukranians getting their country back? Or doing nothing?

Ukrainians are being shelled and civilians killed. That's definitely worse than unemployment.

As for inconveniencing average people- this war is having a global impact on energy and good costs at a time of global economic crisis. But yes, let's not worry about them.

The sooner this war ends, the better. Fast food chains pulling out of Russia is a fairly soft impact but still significant step. It's also reversible.
