Ukraine

Here are a list of Western companies who refuse to condemn the Russian invasion, and are still operating in Russia so they can make money from selling their garbage food:

McDonald's, Coca Cola, KFC, Pepsi, Starbucks and Burger King

Please think twice tomorrow before buying anything from them.

I'm cool with average Russian citizens not losing their customer service jobs to put a dent in their government's security.

Yeah, it's not the average Russian citizen who decided to invade Ukraine, and they should not lose their livelihoods for it.

If sanctions can effectively pressure Russia to end the war, they're worth it, even if they lead to ordinary Russian citizens being worse off. If sanctions can't do that and are intended only to make ordinary Russians worse off, they're probably not justified.

Nations are composed of average citizens and it is the feelings of those citizens that affect the stability of every regime. If it doesn't hurt them, then it doesn't move the national policy.

What is the average worker in Russia doing to fight the regime? Less than an Irish one? Cool, cool, cool, coolcoolcool.

What great life sacrifices are you making to improve your country? No country is so free of issues that its average citizen can afford to sit comfortably on their asses, so tell me.

Member of a hunt sab group tracking hunt riders, and also work in several advocacy services for equalities. I've been on climate protests, and protests against Priti Patel's horrific attempts to limit freedom to protest. Fuck you, I am doing my part in my country. I haven't had a weekend to myself in the last five years.

Still making the Russian economy continue to function. the only way to defeat Russia is to make their economy collapse. Better get used to the idea. The longer you drag it out by trying to be nice, the more Ukrainians die; but of course you don't care about the Ukrainian dead, only the mildly inconvenienced Russians.

Re: Ukraine

(Anonymous) 2022-03-08 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It's fast death vs slow death basically. Of course Ukrainians having much worse right now. And if sanctions will help, I really hope they will fucking help. But calling it mild inconvenience is just really privileged

OP

(Anonymous) 2022-03-08 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Which is preferable- a few months of severe economic pressure on Russia as a whole that may lead to Putin backing the fuck off and Ukranians getting their country back? Or doing nothing?

Ukrainians are being shelled and civilians killed. That's definitely worse than unemployment.

As for inconveniencing average people- this war is having a global impact on energy and good costs at a time of global economic crisis. But yes, let's not worry about them.

The sooner this war ends, the better. Fast food chains pulling out of Russia is a fairly soft impact but still significant step. It's also reversible.
