I've had a sore back every day this week. I'm trying to decide whether it is something sinister that needs medical attention, or just a sign of increasing age.

I wrote up my resignation letter. It is very short. I have to wait until I get my offer letter and start date before turning it. I am stressed about it but know that I have to do what is best for me.

Do you know Ask a Manager? askamanager.org, it's a blog by a (now former, I think) manager who answers questions about work life and such.

I mention it because from what you've listed it sounds as if you're a bit anxious about leaving. Which I get! When it came time to leave my first job and search for something new I was pretty nervous. Reading Alison's answers and advice really helped me calm down and drove home that it's all a normal and expected part of being an employee.

Thanks! I'll give the site a look. This isn't the first job I've left but it is the first one I've left on good terms (horrible bosses in previous jobs that made me happy to quit).

my employer fired two of the three people from 1st shift in the deli, the other is out on leave bc his mum died, so now it's just me (usually the midshift) coming in at 6 in the morning with no help until 1pm since the one part time guy (not counted above) only works 12 hours a week and spends 11.5 of those hours drinking coffee in the break room

I'm exhausted and would love to get some actual rest :(

nowhere that can match $17/hour without some kind of degree I don't have when I physically can't drive, that's for sure :(

I have a tooth that hurts a little when I eat so I'm going to call the dentist tomorrow.

Back is bad today. Counting the days, the hours really, until I see the pain specialist on Wednesday. Meanwhile, trying to get music back on my ipod.

I'm sorry about your back. My mom would ask if you've put Tiger Balm on your back or Salonpas (or Icy/Hot) pads on your back where it hurts? Won't make the pain go away but might alleviate some pain, hopefully. My mom has suffered from back pains for a long time. I hope your back feels better.

So my old workplace called me and offered me a job more than a year after they let me go. I know that it's because my old boss is the one in charge of recruiting, and she was really nice to me. One of my favorite bosses I've ever worked for. Won't be the same position, but pay will be about the same...and hopefully because the position is of a lower status it means I'll have less stress/responsibilities this time around. I just want a steady income and health insurance and I've been having a hard time looking for work. I feel really lucky that this position fell in my lap.

Ugh, sorry about your back. I'm mostly over a (not covid, at least) cold, but my throat/a tonsil or something is still irritated and my body keeps producing mucus, and I miss sleeping without waking up in coughing fits.

Need to start seeds and plant some stuff since it's officially spring now.

On a whim decided this afternoon "Hey if it wasn't so sunny, this would be a great shot for some cosplay pics I've been meaning to take! ...I could come back at dusk..."

And so I did. And now I have to go wash a bunch of gold off my face. And maybe take a hot bath (and hope it doesn't mess up my body like the last couple).

Love the cloak, it makes you look mysterious.

Thanks! I am seriously proud of that thing. There's about 6 yards of black velvet in that costume between the robe and the cloak/hood (thank goodness for 50% off coupons) and I don't even know how long it took to embroider the runes. But I wanted to do this guy right. :D

This is so cool! What brand of face paint do you use!

Also, I love people who do this kind of thing because I wish I could do it too! Great setting!

Thank you! ...The "face paint" is one of those "don't do what I did" situations honestly, hahah. Back when I first made this costume, I didn't know where to find gold face paint, but I did know where to get powdered metallic pigment (which I mixed with clearcoat to paint armor and such). So I just dampen my face and brush the powder on with a damp paintbrush. It rubs off like crazy if you don't seal it, but I was just going out to the trails near my house so I didn't bother. If I ever wear it to a con again I would definitely like to get actual face paint. :P

Thank you! I went all in on this one since he's a lifelong favorite... am slowly getting around to taking all the pictures I actually wanted to take in it. (I need to fix the Staff of Magius before I get it in any more close-ups, too. My plan did not quite work. -_-)
