I've seen people say this before and I sincerely don't get it. F!S is the pettiest, prickliest fandom community I've ever spent time in. Like, it's not that bad, but it's definitely the least friendly of my fandom haunts.

Not the FictionAlley shipping debate threads. Not Television Without Pity. Not ONTD circa 2007-2012. Not any random LJ community dedicated to any tv show or movie you can think of. None of those places had anything on F!S. Oh lord.

An exaggeration, of course, but it doesn't feel far off the mark.

And for the record, I've been to places that make F!S look like Sesame Street. Not that it should matter, but I suspect that not mentioning that fact will somehow invalidate my entire point for people who believe their threshold for toxicity should be everyone else's threshold.

I'm genuinely curious what your fandoms are that this looks bad. Even "wholesome" fandoms these days have insane vitriol spewed around if you don't walk the company line; at least here it's just some bitching lol. I'd kill for most of my fandoms to be as chill as it is here.

Yes yes, you’re hilarious. But this isn’t about the secret, or smug self-superiority anymore. This is about ayrt saying this is “the pettiest, prickliest fandom community”, which will obviously invite “sweet summer child” responses. Seeing as it’s a rather silly statement, that doesn’t align with pretty much anyone else’s fandom experience. That’s all I’m saying.
