I would be wary. If they could always afford/allow you to do those things, why didn't they do so before you were bailing for another job? It's clear they don't have your best interests at heart, what they want is not to lose you so they don't have to take the time and effort to train someone new.

To be fair, I never brought up my pay to them and they pay more than average for my area. Also, I would be the only person that could train my replacement. So I'd have pretty good warning if they did.
