What are things you are into that have really small fandoms (or basically no fandom at all)?

Currently rewatching 12 Monkeys (tv version). Such a great show, but a very small fandom.

I've been getting in Jem again recently. It has a Fandom, but it is rather tiny and not very active, at least in the places I've seen.

Also, Afterlife. It's an old, obscure LucasArts SIM City type game. I need a place to put my Fanfic, damn it!

*obligatory Vagrant Story response* :P I've written half a million words just for my primary ship in that fandom and literally 1/3 of the fics on AO3 for the fandom as a whole are mine. Sometimes I wish I could think of a way to file off the serial numbers because I'd probably reach a WIDER audience with "original fic".

There are a lot of older things I love that once had big fandoms and are now tiny fandoms. Suikoden, Get Backers, Yami no Matsuei. Just not that tiny. Though I guess English-language Eroica fandom was always kind of tiny, now that I'm thinking about it.

Does pantswarrior talk too much about Vagrant Story? I never noticed. I wonder if it's because when someone brings up a fandom I'm not into, I stop reading and find a comment that I'm interested in instead of getting a bug up my ass about people liking things I don't.

*makes mental note to stop spacing out secrets for my handful of fandoms that I'll never shut up about, just to annoy you some more*

It’s one of their main fandoms, and they are allowed to talk about it whenever they want. You should just ignore it if it bugs you that much instead of being a whiny brat about it.

They talk about different fandoms all the time as well. They mentioned several anime and manga they like, as well as their related fandoms in the very comment you’re yelling at. And I’ve seen them mention original Star Trek and Mana several times with no Vagrant Story mention in sight.

But the thing is, it would be fine if they did legitimately always talk about Vagrant Story. Because there’s obviously no rule about it. And because your participation in threads where they talk about it is entirely voluntary. Just like nobody is putting a gun to your head to force you to read them talk about it.

They even self-deprecate in their comment by saying “obligatory Vagrant Story response”, because they’re self-aware unlike you. And they’ve also been given shit for it before as well. Either by other immature assholes, or just you whining about it before now.

Lastly, this entire thread was about the smallest fandoms we’re all in, and if this isn’t the most ideal time for them to bring up Vagrant story, I don’t know what is. Because as they say, 1/3 of the fic on AO3 for the fandom as a whole was written by them. It’s that small, being a game that came out a awhile ago. This thread was perfect for them to mention Vagrant Story, and you’re acting petulantly about it for no reason, despite nobody making you read it as I said. This comm doesn’t belong to you, and you don’t get to dictate what fandoms anyone brings up just because you have a bug up your ass about it. It’s admirable that they’re still so dedicated to it, and nothing you can say will matter.

We're here to talk about our fandoms, dumbass if you aren't interested then just scroll the fuck on.

I'm not mad about you going on about Vagrant, live your best cosplay fic writing life! I mean, it's a forum and you're free to share whatever -- I always talk about the same shit too and I've found at least one or two other anons who happily join me :)

Holy shit, Yami no Matsuei... I completely forgot about that manga for more than a decade here. THAT SNAKE SCENE. It's that manga with the snake scene, right??? GOD.
I'm a fan of Eroica!!! I enjoyed the fandom back in early 2000 but I'm not from any English speaking countries and here we love Riyoko Ikeda. Have you read Orpheus no Mado? It's one of my favourite manga of all the time, but I fear it's still not available in English.

AND LOL I actually started Vagrant Story because of you a while ago. I hit a wall because of IRL responsibilities making my life hell ,but I 'm liking the game so far! Grindy, but fun. I'm probably 8 hours in. :)))

Brideshead Revisited - there need to be more fix-it type and 'happily ever after' type fic for that.

Also - ANY CJ Cherryh book, or Tanith Lee book, for that matter. I will never understand why more people don't want to write in the 'Don't Bite the Sun/Drinking Sapphire Wine' 'verse.

I wish Cyteen had an active fandom (contemplated writing a short fic) buuuut I'd probably also hate the discourse about rape, incest, racism etc. D:

Whenever I'm really angry, I watch either Doom or Assault on Precinct 13 (the remake). As of 2021 AP13 has 5 fics! :D

Multiple crossover band RPFs. 80s and 90's rock and grunge musicians getting it on with each other just does it for me.

It continues to kill me how small the Zatoichi fandom is. There's so much prime kink material to work with from that franchise. Sigh. Lol.

I was over the moon in January when the number of Anno 1790 fics on ao3 doubled. Now there are two!

I have so many works I love and have shuffled through over the years, and I always at least hover around the respective fandoms, if I’m not directly in them. I’m definitely someone who’s not content with having a small amount of works I’m into(at a time or in general), or fandoms I’m a part of. Even if it gets hard to juggle sometimes. Like seriously, my Amino was jam packed when I still used it regularly!

There’s too many anime that I love to death, and I saw a lot the fandoms I was a part of slowly die, from the 80s to now. One of the most recent ones was the anime Working!!/Wagnaria!!. Bubblegum Crisis and Dirty Pair(which were some of the anime that got me into anime back in the day) were included, but they’ve had a resurgence lately, so that makes me happy! Lots of fanart, but sadly not a lot of fanfic. But I’ll honestly take all the new fan content I can get!

But hands down one of the smallest fandoms I’ve ever been in, at the time of it’s release and especially now, is for the game Murdered: Soul Suspect! It wasn’t the best game in the world, nor was it ever popular enough to have anything but a small fandom, but I love it to death! And I’m all-in the fandom even now, though it’s so small and desolate that comparing it to a ghost town feels generous. Even the fandom for Shadow of Destiny/Memories was and is more active!
