I get you, this inability to "research" it themselves is just so baffling to me. I found my current up-to-date resources by googling "piracy reddit" and wouldn't you know, there is an entire subreddit with a massive masterpost detailing programs and sites to use. It's that simple.
Especially with streaming sites that have 0 chance of getting you in trouble (and if you use adblockers are perfectly navigatable) I don't understand how often I see people saying they're scared of "torrenting" shows. Well don't torrent shows, just watch them online!

I have been an avid pirate for around 15 years now and I've never had issues with malware either, I'm not a PC whiz I just use deductive reasoning when trying to determine whether an uploader is legit. Lots of popular torrents? No comments complaining that something is wrong? (Though false positives do happen)
