After season 5 of SPN, Sam Winchester.

I kind of blame the actor for this, though.

Deborah, the sister from 'Dexter' was so *fucking* boring to me, holy christ.

Any 'villain' who feels the need to blah blah blah about their new world order or whatever and is also shown to be a needlessly cruel jerk to animals and random people.

The star-crossed lovers. Yuck.

Mr Macho super-guy who can do everything but has a Tragic Past (TM).

Straight White Male characters, especially those who edge into toxic masculinity (like characters played by *cough*ChrisPratt*cough*). There are so many of them and I'm just completely BORED of them. It's the banality of evil.

Female characters who have no personality and exist entirely to give male audience members wank fodder.

Don't know how to categorise this but everyone in Suits bores me to tears.

Still Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura. Actually, add Misaki from Angelic Later too. Something about CLAMP's shoujo heroines just brings out my personal yawn-triggers.

All Garth Nix's main characters, too. Especially Sabriel and Arthur. Lirael's whiny, but at least that's a personality trait, and Clariel is... I don't remember what made me find her less boring, so maybe she fits the mold after all.

Which actors are the best and worst singers in your opinion?

Les Mis movie Javert by R Crow. I'm a musical fan so I felt it. Didn't hate Butler's Phantom for some reason although I'm a fan of that musical as well.

Whenever I think about singing actors I always think about Tom Hulce first and foremost. What a gorgeous voice.

Gwyneth Paltrow has a great voice despite being Gwyneth Paltrow.

Venting!

(Anonymous) 2022-05-17 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Venting thread for whoever needs it, I sure do.

Having been online for the better part of the past 20-smth years and being autistic as fuck means my perception of the world is really oddly-shaped. Even more because I have been in a brand of obscure fandoms for almost as long and I seem to know literally every "e-famous" adult who didn't quit fandom (or makes a living of it now) and have some kind of affective memory involving them - of course, not all of them good. While I try to act like "haha it's just the internet!" I never suceeded irl either so I feel like the same kid with strange hobbies who prioritizes online relationships on the inside. (Don't tell me about therapy, you don't want to know for how long I was in it.) I am lucky enough to have kept some friends from back then, which makes me feel a little less isolated, but, generally, it's... weird. As if I had quit an indie band just before they got signed and became very popular, but it's less about the money and more about the circle / culture and all.

In 20 years, the Internet changed a lot. When Wayback Machine fails, "Internet history" is just the memory of people who are still around. For many people who weren't online back then, it's a virtually nonexistant space where my affective memories linger ... Seeing that many of those people still talk to each other but I don't (often for reasons such as "gone missing to avoid trouble" but of course "trouble" involves "not wanting to bother with mysogyny" etc.) feels isolating. I deal with my feelings with art as always, so I have been working on my retro Neocities and it feels great! But just remembering some "unresolved" people and situations makes my heart ache. Sometimes I avoid doing things that would get me noticed in fandoms because I don't want some people to know that I am still alive and being the same fandom loser or whatever.

Anyway I was only wondering if anyone else feels like this, and how others deal with these kinds of feelings. Is there even a name for this? I am bad at describing feelings anyway, sigh.

Hmmm. I definitely feel that...lost age/moment feeling. There was just something particular about the time and spaces (many of which have either disappeared or become grounds for spam bots (thinking about the forum side of the first fandom I was active in). It was the most active I was in fandom with people outside of this. Like many other experiences, it's very much that nostalgic feeling, very particular.

Also, thanks for the neocities mention -- it's got precisely that flavor I'm thinking of -- the Internet that you would stumble upon randomly. And everything was...idk how to explain it! It was just an aesthetic and feeling of the era.

I think questioning self about being weird is self-abusive. Everybody's weird, some are just better at hiding it. There's a lot of people without ANY friends.

Personally I absolutely hate feeling nostalgic... Wayback Machine will be here for a long time though. Heh, all I use it for is hunting old fics when I suddenly want to reread old favorites in my old fandoms.

I feel you on avoiding some people online. Social anxiety exists on the web too.

I made some online friends that I grew apart from. Which is not surprising as keeping in touch takes work and I'm not that interested in people, nor am I interesting enough for people to follow me. We'll probably have nothing to talk about if we stumbled on each other again.

Broadly speaking I believe people have their online persona which is different from them irl. Is it a girl, is it a boy, is it a Pokemon? I met a few online fandom friends irl and it was ok. Still, I think that mutual hobby such as fandom rarely means that I can connect to people on deeper level. And don't get me started on my fellow fans in my tiny fandoms that get my favorite characters wrong and all OOC. *angry noises*

So, to sum it up, the less memories the better and I don't care about fandom ex friends. Imo.

I think I get where you're coming from OP. Never been professionally diagnosed with autism or ADHD, but I have always been socially awkward and I have a hard time connecting to people, I am aware I connect more easily with people who seem to have some similar interests with me or people who don't seem to push too much of themselves/new stuff onto me. I have gone through phases where I get super nostalgic for old fandom spaces I was active in. Wayback Machine doesn't really show off everything of a super small fandom I used to be active in so when I scroll through there it's a lot like my memories: not everything I had loved and enjoyed is all there but what I do find, some of it brings back good memories.

I am lucky that I am still super duper close to one of my old fandom friends. Neither of us are in the fandom we met each other anymore. We share with each other fandoms we enjoy but we mostly talk to each other about our lives and support each other.

I wish I could speak as fondly of other fandom friends but honestly, it was for the best I stopped talking to them. Many did not have a huge or dramatic ending. We just drifted and stopped talking.

It can get sad and lonely NGL Fandoming now feels so difficult and not nearly as fun. I also am not super active in the fandom spaces I go to. IDK attention is weird. Even as a small time fanfic writer I am beginning to wonder if I should find new ways to write even more Anon...it's weird having people connect a personality of sorts to the fics I've been writing and posting for the past year. Being "online" now is just...IDK it fucks with my sense of personhood/sense of self.

I think the name is this: Saudade

It is a Portuguese word, and it means a deep emotional state of nostalgic or profound melancholic longing for something or someone that one cares for and/or loves. Moreover, it often carries a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might never be had again.

(Pronunciation here - it's different in mainland Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese.
