Most of my threesome ships are 100% porn ships because I like that as a smut thing, for actual OT3's that I legit ship I have very few because finding three characters who could actually work as a couple is incredibly difficult, there's usually a massive emotional imbalance within the canon for one of the ships that makes is really hard for me to see it working out as a proper poly relationship. Like most of the time two of the characters care way more for each other than they do the fandom tag-along so I just can't get into it emotionally.

It sounds like that’s an error on the original creator’s part, if they expect you to care about these 3 characters as a group, but only two of them feel bound together.

NAYRT You can drop the defensiveness now. OT3s aren't for everyone and that's okay.

Where are you getting defensiveness from? Feo didn’t even talk about OT3s. That was the point of the secret and original comment, of course. But feo only said that it sounded like bad writing in the original work if only two out of three main characters who are all supposed to be close actually feel like they have a bond, and the third feels more like an add-on. I honestly think this is a fair point. Because it’s not even just a shipping thing in that case. It can also mean that the author also didn’t write the friendship very well when it comes to this one character who’s supposed to be both friends with the other two, and just as important to the plot as them.

da and yeah, i've definitely seen canons where three characters are all supposed to be close but it doesn't come across that way in the actual writing and two characters get way more development with each other than with the third. even if it's just supposed to be a friendship, that's bad writing.
