I am getting the impression that I was very lucky to be paying zero attention to social media the last few weeks between dealing with malware attacks, finishing ten-year-old fanfics, and con prep, so I have heard almost nothing about it other than that there was a lot of trainwreckage going on.

I'm vaguely curious what the ultimate verdict was just because it was apparently so polarizing for a lot of people but since I don't actually have an opinion of anything that went into it, it would be kind of pointless for me to know. I'll probably find out accidentally at some point without even looking. :P

I'm not sure what happened in the UK court...
It's very showing that people weren't sure about the verdict even with so much evidence. No hope for male abuse victims.

I suppose it is possible I could care less about it, theoretically, but I don't see how. It is over, there are no real winners, but we are all losers for having had to endure the coverage of it.

tbf, as a european that trial was more of a side note in any sort of news coverage and you had to actively check gossip mags or twitter to get any info.
Cant really imagine how bad it must have been for us folks

hoping that after the chaos and memes subside there'll be an opportunity for reflection about the trial and its wider implications (including but not limited to: celebrity culture, the court of public opinion, the ability of abuse victims to speak, cancel culture, the acknowledgement of men as abuse victims, etc)

concerned that the chaos and memes aren't going to subside until one or other of them actually dies

I’ve been loving the trial, tbh. I love when someone lies and gets called out and doubles down and then just keeps going bigger and bigger until it all blows up in their face. She did this to herself. She could have never looked back after the divorce but she needed that attention and so she got it. I live for that shit!

That's relevant to my interests.

Depp vs. Heard is not. I'm glad it's over so maybe people will stop talking about it. I saw maybe a minute long clip of Depp's testimonial and it was painful to watch, it seemed like he was not all there with the run-on sentences and repeating himself not really getting to the point (about charity work and not wanting credit for it). Like maybe he has destroyed too many braincells with all the substance abuse.

Hate the Depp-stanning on this thread.

He's literally scheduled to be back in court in July for an assaulting a male crew member. He is not innocent and I hate the comments here trying to make him the poster child for male victims.
