I'm not following this shit anymore: to me, leaving an argument is a de-escalation technique to get my bearings and be able to talk it out calmly later. It used to upset my partner too, but he understands it for what it is now. Someone who keeps provoking someone who's trying to leave a fight, is a red flag to me.

I have no opinion on Heard or Depp except that I'm sick of hearing about it, but this is true. Walking away is the best thing you can do sometimes if you know staying will escalate the situation. People need time alone to chill out and process what happened. It's not abusive to set that boundary and take care of yourself and keep things from getting worse.

It sounds OP that you are trying to convince yourself that Johnny Depp isn't an abuser or that you are continuing the narrative "she was abusive too".

For the record, before this, I actually didn't like Amber at all (I had no idea that she was being abused and didn't like the way her and JD reacted to Australia wanting their dogs to be quarantined). I work with abuse victims and knew from the beginning that Amber is unfortunately the victim (the concept of mutual abuse is false. DV is about power and control. There will always be a person who has the power who needs to control another. JD has proven that he was always the one with the power and control in the relationship. Also, there is no such things as a "perfect" victim. Amber has never denied that she is perfect).

However, though I believed in Amber, and continue to believe abuse victims, both male and female, be it DV or sexual abuse. There was always one exception. Michael Jackson. I was the biggest fan growing up. I did exactly what you're doing, when it comes to JD. I feel ashamed of my actions now. I blamed the victims. they're lying. How dare they? I watched videos taking apart their actions (as you're doing) to further convince myself that I'm right.

Like you, I didn't want to believe that the celebrity I like could be a monster (I used to be a fan of JD, who wasn't? He was the "cool guy"). That's painful, that sucks. Furthermore, that's a horrible feeling to come to.

But OP, unfortunately, that's the truth. It's shameful to come to the conclusion. But, to protect DV victims (including Amber) and all survivors of abuse, we need to start believing them. Otherwise, Me Too are just two words.

Hey. So, I never said one thing about this whole issue because it does not interest me in the slightest. I mildly liked Johnny Depp as an actor before, still like his acting but his personality isn't worth a penny to me anymore, very intimately and privately and just *shrug* and hate when the topic comes up. But my thoughts on this subject are, simply put: in relationships where there is a power imbalance (in this case because Johnny Depp is obviously way more famous than Amber Heard not to mention a man etc.) the weaker side wants to be seen, or else it's not a relationship it's abuse / slavery.

Personally I have been in such a situation and I completely understand where Amber Heard comes from in that sense. So while I would never take a side in this ridiculous show business spetacle of a marital disagreement, in which there is NO "right" party, and find utterly ridiculous that many idle people in the world made a festival out of THEIR PERSONAL BUSINESS, I understand her "madness" and "paranoia" deeply and simply don't date men anymore because of it.

I think hyperfocusing on the details of a private relationship means you need to ask yourself why you need to defend a man you like so much. It's not about Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. It's about the culture around it and why you are so fascinated by it.

Because the desire to make a monster/villain out of a human being is not normal. Especially when we're talking about a man's career being on the line as the excuse as to why we're taking this case so seriously.

And if it's about domestic abuse then you'd be discussing domestic abuse with the people in your life and in your community, not on a celebrity couple where your investment has ZERO consequence on how domestic abuse affects our every day lives.

Sorry if I'm coming off harsh but I've been dealing with a lot DV/DA stuff that's not specifically about me but I'm dealing with it because the people involved are really close to me.

Like, I'm so fucking sick of people saying this case is about DA when they can't even fucking be honest in their own fucking personal lives about it. I've come face to face with DA for what feels like my entire life and I'm so fucking sick of everyone acting like OTHER people are fucking idiots for dealing with it but they can't even be honest about it happening in their own homes and communities. So fucking sick of all this selfish and self-righteous bullshit.
