Weekend Plans

What is everyone doing this weekend?

Visiting my sister with my nephew. We are taking him clothes shopping for fall and winter clothes. Other than that, doing a lot of relaxing.

I get Monday off and I'm stoked! Time to walk some pikmin into existence and watch a 5 hour youtube video on Sam and Cat while my colony in Banished gets big enough to lag my computer.

There's always chores: laundry, grocery shopping, dishes, cleaning, etc.

Oh, and I need to figure out how to pirate Ring of Power. I have an Amazon Prime account but I don't want to let my tumblr bros down.

Yeeaah everything I've read about it, it seems like a show I'd really enjoy.
But I've never watched a minute of it because I knew one of Those Fans and you are not wrong.

In fact, the cult-like nature of the fandom made it very easy for her to be sucked into an actual legit cult later. (Yeah any fandom can do that for a person susceptible to those things. This is the one that sticks with me because I watched it go down in real time.)

Posting the main bit of the last of my current WIPs, hopefully finishing the epilogue. Might try doing more drawing since I did some low-pressure fan art today and had fun.

There's a lot of chores and upkeep to do around my house and I'm out or nearly out of a few things but my health has just been getting worse and worse and I've been trying to get those things done for an entire week and a half at this point. At least I got the lawn mowed and the mini-fridge defrosted.

I'm different from you in that I was always attracted to older people as a teenager. Teenagers have just never done it for me even when I was one. They still don't. But now in fiction, it's fascinating to explore using my memories of my teenage self (through the filter of charactes who aren't me) to delve into the psychology of that. And it's free to be hot AND problematic at the same time, because it isn't real.

People can be into whatever they want, and frankly when it comes to actual pedos I'd rather they get their jollies off in fiction than hurt real kids, but I reserve the goddamn right to block and remove anyone into that shit from my feeds because it creeps me the fuck out. That isn't being pearl-clutchy, that's me curating my internet experience based on my own comfort levels and no one gets to tell me that's wrong.

No. Speaking as an immigration lawyer, it can have very serious consequences. Not entirely sure on how seriously it is taken when non-immigrants do it, though.

A ton of my coworkers do it. It’s something I’m really uncomfortable with myself. I don’t think I’d be capable of driving safely drunk or high, and the few times I’ve been convinced that someone else could when I was younger and accepted a ride from someone under the influence were the scariest car rides of my life!! It made me feel kinda crazy because my coworkers acted like I was being silly and uptight when I politely said I’d rather walk a couple blocks than have them drive me somewhere while they were wasted. Even though they were visibly struggling to keep the car under control. Idk, I’m not a judgemental person of most things but I feel like that’s so endangering to yourself and others. I have known a fair amount of people whose lives have been messed up really badly by DUIs, from legal consequences and by resulting injuries, so I just can’t treat it as no big deal.

I'm the opposite, when I was a teen I was into teen/adult ships because I liked the power-fantasy of being the object of an adults desire. But as I've gotten further and further away from being a teen those ships and teen characters in general hold no appeal for me anymore. I still like age-gap ships but the minimum age for the younger character has gone up with my own age.

The most accurate thing I've seen about Firefly is (paraphrased) "It wasn't on long enough to get bad." And that's part of it. What episodes we had were good, but it would have gone downhill eventually. Because it didn't, some people put it on a pedestal.

Definitely not true. From what I've heard it apparently used to not be a big deal like 50 years ago, but now it's definitely a big deal and very serious, and definitely not something everyone does.

I am currently at a hotel until Monday. Bed is comfy. Waiting for the lunch/dinner I ordered. Then going to go to sleep. That's my plan mostly. Lots of sleep. Will watch first two Rings of Power episodes at some point and finally finish Obi-Wan.
