DA

(and I can't be alone on Danny Elfman, right?

No. No, you most certainly aren't :D.

Bullshit

Poe barely had a character to develop in TFA. He was popular because he was played by Oscar Isaac - I mean, I completely get it and I'm not mad about it, but he wasn't a deep character at all. I don't necessarily like what they did with the character in TLJ, I think that's by far the weakest part of the movie, but you can't look at him and say that they ruined anything. And as for Finn, his development in TLJ was extremely solid, and took his character in a direction that was IMO interesting and certainly in line with his characterization in the first film. If you're bitter about them doing Finn dirty, I agree! But the film you should be mad at is TROS, not TLJ.

You just can't say that there was a tight trio of main characters in TFA - that's completely invented. There's nothing like that in the first movie, it only became a thing because Poe got so randomly popular. Nor, for that matter, can you say that it was meant to be a tight trio of main characters "like the first SW trilogy" and then complain about how they were split up - because the tight trio of main characters *was* split up in the first SW trilogy.

I disagree on kimono - if you have big hips or (to a lesser extent) a big bust, the body wrapping you need to do to keep the cylindrical shape is very unflattering. Men's style with a hakama still works though.

Hmm, I dunno, I think the wrapping to keep it cylindrical is one reason it seems flattering on everyone to me - it sort of evens (literally?) the playing field. Though I bet the wrapping is far more uncomfortable with big hips/bust. Definitely one of those things that makes me pleased to be built like a stick.

Will never say no to hakama though. :D (Unless I have to sew them myself. AAAAAUUUUGH. Then again, the end result is so cool I ... so far have not said no. :D)

Werewolves and vampires being sworn enemies, especially when done for comic relief.

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
I second everything you wrote, OP. The only saving grace of his character is that he's played by Oscar Isaac.

I love whump. The whumpier the better.

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
No. Especially when it comes to Gen 4 which is more style than musical substance. If they look bad I’mma comment on it.

Especially if it is either the main character/hero/heroine, the character I relate to most, or the character I'm most attracted to.

Give me all the political arranged marriage fics. I don't even care if it makes sense for a fandom, I will read them!

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
I don’t get the fandom love, never have.
But in TLJ from his character’s perspective the command are not just Doing the Wrong Thing they’re actually sabotaging everything the resistance was working towards. Part of what made that film so terrible was how that was handled; there was no reason to pull a gotcha on their own troops. It still blows my mind that there are fans who think 1) that was a good part of the movie; 2) it was right for them to keep Poe et. all in the dark; and 3) Poe was in the wrong. The whole thing was poorly contrived drama that was weakly executed and it’s mind blowing to me how rabid some fans on either side of the debate still are. That there was even a debate about it is pretty sad, tbh.

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
SA I meant to add HOW Poe handled things was wrong but it’s about what was expected from that calibre of writing. Star Wars has never been big on nuance so the big tropey OTT reaction on Poe’s part was on brand. It just wasn’t a situation that ever should have happened and it’s why EU, Clone Wars, etc are generally more loved by fans than the prequel and sequel films.

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
It's clearly the weakest part of the movie. It seems like they knew where they wanted the drama of the storyline to end, but they couldn't quite work out how to get from Point A to Point B.

And unfortunately, it does have ramifications for the rest of the movie, because it does slightly fuck up the pacing of the movie as a whole.

I saw this as 1980s for a sec and thought this was Prince. I need glasses.

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oooo what exactly is the drama here?

well I don't know about hack or plagarist, but he's definitely a complete ass, especially recently. Glad patti lupone got a million off him.

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
It’s because he’s the hot one.

I feel this way about Gillian Anderson, too.

I just really like red hair, dyed or not.

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I really feel this. Although I wear my own takes on 1760-1890s fashion. Minus the wild decolletage some of the women's fashion had -- I tend to do takes on men's wear. It really depends, and it's always more of an approximation with a mix of what second hand stuff I can get my hands on. If I had time and skill, I'd learn how to make things myself.

Come to think of it, it's been a long while since I've dressed in a fun way, just for myself. It always felt good, and fun. Thanks for the secret, OP. I'm going to dress up soon :)

There is something very sharp and vivid about Damian Lewis and Toby Stephens. Seth Green as Richie Tozier probably started it (ha!) for me, but Oz being so cool cemented it.

I prefer men too, so Scarlett Johansson with red hair is also just aesthetic for me.

OP

That I get because to me he is the hottest character in the ST. I just find him too unlikable to be into. The actor is great in other things, though.

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 01:44 am (UTC)(link)

I sometimes find him hot or cute, but sometimes he doesn't do anything for me. Though in the trailers for The Patient, he's just been scaring me.

This is a great idea!
