+1000 that's exactly it.

Found family is often people who have lost or been rejected by bio-families (often FOR BEING QUEER) who, as adults, find a family in the deeper sense of a group of people who are committed to each other through thick and thin - take care of each other in illness, will look after each other in old age, etc. It does not have to reproduce heteronormative nuclear family dynamics. It does not necessarily exclude sexual or romantic feelings. (Married couples are "found family" for fuck's sake)
