What have you been obsessed with the longest?

What obsession have you produced the most fanworks for? (If you lean that way.)

Hard to say what I've been obsessed with the longest. Plenty of things I've fixated on for nearly a decade or more.

The obsession I've produced the most fanworks for is probably the Suikoden series.

A decade or more of constant obsession/interest? My interests are so flighty I can't imagine that. I have things I'll get deep into then lose interest only to come back years later to dive back in with the same love and obsession, but not much I can think of that's a constant interest.

Well, it helps when it is a series, and not a standalone thing. Or when it gets adapted to a film or TV series.

Oooooh nice. :D Suikoden is probably my third longest fandom that I am still really happy to see stuff in to this day - I haven't done much with it recently but darned if I don't still love it every time I see someone doing fanstuff for it.

I approve of your Suikoden fanworks and I don't even know you.

Hm, I wouldn't say I was obsessed but I was more actively in the Shadowhunters fandom while the show was airing and for about 2 years after it finished(I still go look at the fic sometimes but my own plot-bunnies for that fandom have faded for now). I wrote about 20-something fics in that fandom and I like most of what I wrote but some of those fics I'm definitely a little more 'eeeh' on these days. I doubt I'll delete them though as I don't tend to do that unless I really, really hate something I wrote.

Before that I wrote a handful of MCU fic, but it really was only a handful.

My typical fandom-speed is: I get into something, I write 1-3 fics, I then peace out and only read fic for a year or so after until something else grabs my active attention and then rinse and repeat the cycle. I might come back after a 6 year break to write something else but a lot of the time when I'm done writing fic in a fandom I'm done for good.

I've been in Steve/Bucky fandom since 2014. I can't think of anything I've been in always. I go in and out of other fandoms and hobbies.

Does walking count? Lol. I've been going on long walks forever.

I've been in Steve/Bucky fandom for about a decade now, the longest I've been in any fandom.

My fandom style is hardcore serial monogamy. I hyperfixate to an unhinged degree on one OTP for years at a time, until eventually the obsession begins to wane enough for my brain to latch onto a new hyperfixation. I do have other pairings and fandoms I enjoy as well, but I only obsess over them a fraction as intensely as I obsess over my main OTP.

The longest I've ever stayed with a main OTP was seven years, and that was with Johnlock. The funny thing is, I stopped following the show about three years in because it was trash, but my obsession endured anyway because the fanfic was so lit. I was pretty much entirely into that ship for the fanfic and the fanon. (The fanart was also really, really good.)

If we're going by straight-up longest, then Star Trek. I watched it whenever I could while I was growing up. Starting with TNG airing through to Enterprise. I watched whatever was airing; I read all the books I could get my hands on, both factual about the show and actors and fiction (I still have an entire shelf in my home library just for ST books).

It used to be The Thing I did with my dad. We would watch Star Trek together, even if we did nothing else. I was afraid, when my mom and I finally dealt with what an abusive piece of shit he was and got a restraining order, that he would taint my love of Star Trek (he went more crazy; got arrested for violating the RO and there was a short kidnapping; the two were not related). But thankfully, I found I liked it even more once he was gone. So that's about 13 years. Enterprise couldn't hold my attention though (LOL), and I dropped out of actively watching anything ST until Lower Decks.

Longest fandom would probably be MDSZ/The Untamed at 5 years and counting continuously or Hannibal at 7 years and counting off and on at regular intervals.

...Bunnies. Since I was 2. :D

If you mean fandoms though, shockingly Vagrant Story is #2. Final Fantasy IV (when it was known in the US as FF2) has been around longer and I've bought 5 different versions of it for 5 different consoles and will replay it anytime.

Vagrant Story is a deeper obsession, though, and I'm pretty sure that counting fic, art, and cosplay, I've made more fanstuff for it than every other fandom combined.

(Also have been a TMNT fan since the 80s, but not actually active in fandom ever, and haven't seen the latest incarnations. I just still get a giddy rush of glee when I see stuff from it.)

The only fic I ever wrote was when I was a teen and it was X-Men comics and seaQuest DSV (totally aging myself here), other than that I'm mostly a lurker. I think my longest obsession right now has probably been Steve/Bucky - I'll waver back and forth on if I'm more obsessed with Steve or Bucky at any moment, but the two of them seem to hold a permanent place in my brain at this point.

Travel. I have been obsessed with travel since a young age. I just always want to be where I am not.

But fandom obsession....I am a very ADHD fandomer. I go hardcore hyper focus on a fandom and then suddenly lose interest. I think the deepest dives I've done were Derek Hale (not necessarily Teen Wolf as a whole, but Derek Hale as a character) and MCU - specifically CA: Winter Soldier.

I've always wanted to produce fanworks, but I just end up lurking instead. I have a lot of fun stories I spin in my head, but I never seem to want or have the drive to put them down into words and complete works.

I was a Beatles fan practically as a fetus and still am.
Have written lots of House fic.

The longest has to be One Piece. I believe I picked it up in 2009 or 10 and still going strong. There were "only" 500 chapters at the time and I binged it in two weeks to cach up.

Most fanworks might be Yu-Gi-Oh. I drew a lot of fanart back when I still felt like drawing.

Most cosplay pieces is One Piece. Fairly sure I have about 40 individual costumes for 6 characters. It helps that Sanji just has the same suit with 9 different colored shirts and ties...

Longest probably Star Wars. My first fandoms were Star Wars and Harry Potter, and I'm still into Star Wars.

Most fanworks would absolutely be Tolkien fandom. Several fics and a whole lot of headcanons and discussions on Tumblr.

Phantom of the Opera for both length of obsession—28 years and counting—and amount of fanworks. Wrote vastly more fic than I finished or posted, and have only finished a couple cosplay costumes, but they're doozies.

This is a bit of a mixed answer because I've been a fanartist for almost 20 years now, and I still go back and draw characters I once was the most obsessed with from time to time (fandoms like X-Men and Naruto), but the ones I've drawn the most for are for Undertale and Star Trek.

I've also been writing fanfics more since the start of 2020, which has mainly been towards Youtube fandoms like Sanders Sides and Markiplier egos-verse.

I’ve been obsessed (on and off) with Sonic since I was 6 in 1991. I did a lot of fic and oc creation back in the day based around it. Most recently had an obsession episode last year when the second movie was released.

Buffyverse 100%. Watched every single episode of Buffy and Angel when they first aired starting in 1997. Probably found fanworks around the same time. We used to used the library computers in highschool reading through Geocites Webrings because no one had the internet at home yet. 26 years later and I'm still obsessed.
