They make a big deal about their ships being dark and fucked-up because that's what the ships' antis harass them about, and it's better to try and own it than deny it. They wouldn't have to go around declaring that their ship is fucked-up and you can die mad about it if there weren't so many people hellbent on dying mad about it in the first place.

One Piece is the big one for me. Found family is basically one of the corner stones of the story. There are many different variations of the theme as well, but just the obvious one for the main characters is already pretty much one of my favourite variations of found family dynamics.

What's your interpretation of found family, if you don't mind me asking?

Because most Thai BL I've been recced was of the sort where the show beat around the bush waaaay too long and then the dudes kiss once and then there's more nonsense for way too long until they kiss again and the shoe ends. I have a kneejerk hatred of Klance the ship because some -SOME!!!!- of it's loudest shippers allehefly gave birth to the current anti thing going on .

Yeah, this is where I am as well, having never been in the Voltron fandom. As far as I can tell the most vocal parts of both ship camps were shitty, but I do resent the side more that normalized the whole thing of finding any little excuse to call rival ships dangerous and degenerate.
