Alice In Wonderland and the World Trade Center Disaster- David Icke.

In the end it's a fairly simple story with some psichology trown inside and a fucked up time line (because of the movies etc).

This, good lord. 13-year old me thought the original series was the most complicated thing ever. Then the Rebuilds came along and I've never appreciated the original series/EoE more. Rebuild is gorgeous to look at but a complete trainwreck in terms of pacing, characterization and storytelling and too much focus on fanservice. IMO. Also say this as a huge Evangelion fan.

Are you talking about the TV show The Mick?

Well, to each their own. Some people seem to believe the original FF7 is the most amazing thing on the planet, despite having never played other FFs or most JRPGs (or any at all). If something resonates with a person, then it resonates with them.

Personally, I couldn't get into FF9. I get that it was a return to old school Final Fantasy but it bored me more than FF8, so I quit.

AYRT

In for a penny, in for a pound. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm the same with fresh pineapple, like I can't feel my tongue anymore but who cares when it's this delicious

have watched a total of one half an episode of Supernatural and never actually participated in fandom or read anything about it. However it is my go to fandom when I'm in the mood to find some really fucked up kinky fic. Bless those weirdos for never failing to deliver.

God yes, fresh pineapple. I will eat a whole pineapple if it's good. Half my mouth is screaming no but most of my tastebuds are yelling yessssss. Similar problem with fresh watermelon. My stomach says I'm full but my mouth still wants more of that delicious Nature's candy.

+1000000 I think his greatest strong suit as a writer is ensemble dynamics. He's really good at playing characters off of each other to highlight their similarities and differences and create understanding of them based on the spaces between them.

Honestly, in 2023, and at my current age, I've lost most of the love I had for his writing style fifteen years ago, but I do think he does that one thing really well. Though ofc there can also be pitfalls to centering group dynamic so emphatically, and I do think his writing succumbs to some of those pitfalls.

Ah, I was very interested in watching that before it came out, but then I saw all the negative reviews and I steered clear of it.
I just finished watching open house and I was still livid at netflix for that disaster of a TV show. Never again.

Seconding this! Wholesome, nurturing found family can be good too, but is REALLY hard to keep interesting for any length of time, IMO. Firefly was a great FF show because the relationships were all so dynamic, each one unique, with it's own weak spots and idiosyncrasies. Plus the whole "living rough" "wrong side of the law" thing, and the whole "stuck in a confined (yet sort of cozy) space together" bit.

I feel like the Firefly itself was a VERY important part of what made the dynamic work, because for all the stressors and hostilities they went through, there was something comforting and nest-like about that junky little ship where everybody had their spot. Without the eccentric comfort and unity provided by the Firefly itself, I think their dynamic really would have felt too nasty and unstable, but the warmth of the ship held them all alike, so it worked.

SA I can't even lie. If this were not a real thing that's actually happening, I'd be totally down to watch a dark social satire based on the premise. But since it is real, too gruesome for me.

I know its an old series now, but I'm giggling to myself trying to imagine Death Note having a beach episode.

I mean, I do feel like his characters have a tendency to become accusatory and judgmental under stress, and to act impulsively when emotional, without necessarily always having to acknowledge the weight of their mistakes (unless the script decides they should, in which case they will have to take full accountability and them some).

I genuinely loved Joss's writing when I was younger, and I still think a lot of his stuff was pretty cool for the time it was in, but I don't exactly feel like it's aged super well, and some of the narrative choices that seemed totally normal and innocuous back then now sometimes leave a slightly off taste in my mouth.

I'm probably the easiest one to notice because of my amazing MS Paint skillz :B

I'm halfway through Christina Henry's 'Horseman' - and its been alright so far. I had wanted to read something fictional after reading so many biographies in a row and its been pretty easy for me to get into.

Also borrowed the first 5 volumes of the manga Nyankees by Atsushi Okada from the library. Its about personifications of alley cats as street gangsters and its honestly been stupid-fun to read, so I'm having a good time with this series too.

never saw Zathura but I notice a LOT of movie kids are irritating even when they're obviously not meant to be.

I watched the first couple episodes of this show called Devs that came out a couple of years ago, and just could not stand it. The lead actor was truly atrocious, which was a significant part of the problem, but I also found the writing clunky and intellectually masturbatory without being even remotely deft enough to pull it off (I say that as someone who generally favors "high brow" TV). Even the directing felt heavy handed.

Which was all kind of surprising to me because the creator was Alex Garland, and I generally tend to like a lot of his work. Devs felt like maybe it was a pet idea he'd had since college, and had always nurtured the thought of getting to make it one day, but by the time he got the chance a couple of decades had gone by and the idea that may have seemed really challenging and cool back then had become dated and clunky. IDK, that was just the vibe.

Just finished A Collapse of Horses by Brian Evenson. So in between books now.

And despite having many to read fics. I can't find one that strikes my fancy. I need a new Fandom.

I can't honestly say anything about sheith or what shippers were worse I just know I have a kneejerk hatred of Klance the ship because some -SOME!!!!- of it's loudest shippers allehefly gave birth to the current anti thing going on .

A former Klance shipper (she deleted the tweet) admitted that apparently there was an effort by some of the community to scare DreamWorks out of making the rival ship canon with pedo claims .

I don't know if it's true but with how some -again SOME!!!-of it's shippers I can believe it.

Not to say all Klance shippers are guilty and don't anyone dare take my comments as a reason to attack people...but yeah every I time I see the ship I seeth inside .
