If you're just in it for the kink, sometimes it's fun to go to a big fandom like that and just enjoy it without having to worry about getting sidetracked by bad characterization or canon drama or whatever. I used to do that with MCU back when that fandom still knew how to have fun.

Yeah, some of the best kink fics are wonderfully written but terribly out of character. It can be frustrating if you care about characterization or are in the fandom, so it's easier to just go nextdoor to a strange source.

Oh man yes. I tend to gravitate towards ships and fandoms where my favorite kinks/tropes are in-character. But if I'm looking for something else, I'll sometimes read random fandoms where I don't know the characters. Because obvious OOC really drives me up a wall.
