Uh, helpful warning for extreme body modification and D/s that has no acquaintance with safety or sanity, in canon, I suppose?

That feeling where you poke a toe into a fandom because a favorite kink fanfic writer has stories for it that sound so attractive, and then you read a ton of stories for a particular pairing, and then you wind up interacting with canon and one of them is drastically different between canon and fandom. But, um. Not actually less kinky? Or exactly out of character, even ...

This happened to me with Arbitro/Kau in Togainu no Chi, and it was epic. So MANY of the fanfics are written from Kau's point of view, and in his head, Arbitro is a Dom of towering stature and fearsomeness. And that's kinda how Arbitro tends to see himself, Presiding Over Everything. But, in canon, no one of plot-relevance takes him seriously at all. It was amazing. And so funny.

Worse than this, when canon does that lol I got into Togainu no Chi through the anime only to find out my favorite ship is very different and underrated in game canon. Fuck.

Oh, that does sound disappointing. Which ship?

Akira/Rin. None of their background story or reasons are explained well so I was let down when I found out there were close to no fanworks at least back when the anime aired.

Rin. I vaguely remember him being popular-ish in fanon when I was looking at fanfics? But yeah, that sounds like quite the letdown where the video game was concerned. I'm sorry, anon.
