I can relate. I've never watched any Supernatural and the name of the show put me off for such a long time that I was late to the kink party. But there was this one epic, multichaptered, complete, kidnapping and bestiality fic where one of the characters is batshit crazy and the other is trying to survive him and they fall in (extravagantly fucked-up) love and kill a serial rapist cop ... and yeah. That one fanfic basically changed my opinion from "pass" to enthusiastic curiosity, for good, where the Supernatural fandom is concerned.
