What are your favorite fictional maps? Be it for aesthetic, detail, or practicality?

I really love this fan made map of Tryia (Guild Wars universe). I actually have it printed and hanging on my wall. I think it's just generally beautiful ( love the colors they've used) but I also just love putting the whole world together and then including the Gods too. (At the time the fan made it there was no map with all of the expansions together showing the whole 'world')

I love maps. I actually looked into getting a few of my other favorite fantasy maps printed for display but was disappointed in what I could find - or the lack of what I could find. (Valdemar and Tortall, for those curious.)

I can't pick favorites, but as someone who has a really poor visual imagination and therefore basically has no concept of geography within a story, fictional maps are the best.

Not an accurate map, but Pauline Baynes' version of the Middle Earth map was lovely and sadly never re-printed after the early 70s. My husband had a (very poorly mounted!) copy and we finally sunk in some money to get it off the deteriorating plywood it was glued to (!!) and get it properly framed.

What is everyone doing?

It will be raining all weekend (hopefully). So I am hoping to spend the weekend crocheting. If I can find a good horror movie to watch, I might even get the narwhal done!

Usual gaming and cosplay stuff, possibly an outing on Sunday for some Pokemon Go. Also looks like 2 more buns will be joining me soon because the shelter is full, but... fostering. Yes, this time really fostering. Definitely just fostering.

I-I mean if 4 of the buns are two bonded pairs, it's not like either bonded pair is much more work than a single bun...

I have a friend's birthday tonight, which I'm sort of grumpy about because I'm in a bad mood and tired and everything, but it'll be nice to see people. Also I might watch the Indy movie.

I do have a pile of books I checked out of the library and the last two have been disappointing, so hoping the remaining ones are better.

Today's my birthday, but I thought tomorrow worked out better to celebrate, so we're gonna do dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, then get ice cream afterwards. The rest of the weekend I'm just gonna relax. Should be really nice. :)

Crying, actually. Rhythm games fandom is all fun and games until you break a finger just before the event you spent 9 months preparing for.

As if that wasn't enough, my first post-COVID con/cosplay is gonna be in a week. So I will be cosplaying/yelling anison lyrics at a much awaited concert with a broken finger. Hooray (not hooray)

I’m excited about the Barbie movie, which I did not expect to be.

Also ST: Strange New Worlds s2. I know it started a couple weeks ago but this weekend is the first chance I have to watch it.

I have no idea what Puppet History is (assuming a doc about the history of puppets...?) but I'm excited for you!

I am excited for sleep. Bed time is my favorite time of day. Which is maybe a little depressing if I think about it too much, but instead I just live in the moment and enjoy!

Dune 2. Ring of Power season 2. The Marvels and other MCU movies. Rebel Moon. Akolyte and Ahsoka. What If season 2. The new animated Babylon 5 thing. Dune: The Sisterhood. Live action ATLA.


The trip to the middle of Texas mom and I are taking in October to stargaze and relax.

Two big final hearings I have in October that I will hopefully win for two clients I care a lot about.

From 2018? It's not streaming, but I'm still on DC++ and I found a couple of copies on there.

There's a website called UnblockIt that was designed with the intent of getting around firewalls that block piracy, but I mostly just use it as a one-stop hub that links to most of the relevant high-seas streaming and torrenting sites

I saw a tumblr post that was basically a pic of Margot Robbie as Barbie next to a pic of Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer with a caption that was something like ‘stereotypical lesbian couple - high femme that smells of plastic and a butch 50-something’ followed by ‘I didn’t realise the other shot was Oppenheimer’

If anyone recognises this and could link it for me you would be my hero!
