Resisting the pressures to make people's lives worse is the opposite of capitalism. We live in an era of late stage capitalism, and constant monetized oppresion for clicks and populism, can't get away from that though. If you are lucky enough that it doesn't weigh on your life, congrats on your privilege. Do something with it to help others get the same privilege too. Or don't, let the machine grind onwards, up to you.

AYRT

You don't seem to realize that you're helping the "machine grind" up all the people who are trying to take refuge in one of the last (mostly) non-monetized places left. You would have us all expend energy we don't have trying to turn it into activism. Activism for who? What kind? I'm sure that everyone who wants to do that will agree on which cause gets priority and how everyone should do it and things will get done. *eyeroll*

So this makes me think you didn't actually understand what I meant earlier. We're all suffering under late stage capitalism. No more park benches, no loitering, no hobbies (unless you monetize them), NO REST. This is a place we can REST with no monetization. And you want to turn it into activism, making us PAY for having this place by policing ourselves. No. Fuck off.

I will not
Neither will I cease pointing out that silence, here or anywhere, is complicity

You can either be active or be uncomfortable

The choice is yours

I choose to rebel against your attempts to infect fandom with the mindset of your late stage capitalist protestant work ethic roll models. I choose to ENJOY MYSELF. I choose to REST.

I will not continue to give of myself until there is none left for me. You want to annihilate yourself on the altar of productivity, have at it. But go do it away from fandom. You could actually get so much more done out in the meatspace. Go on. Git.

DA

But I'm entirely here for you resting and having fun and not apologizing to anybody for it. In fandom and anywhere else.

Are you an AI bot? Because you sure sound like one. Either that or a liberal freak.

Nayrt

“Liberal freak”?? There’s nothing wrong with being liberal. It’s only a problem when you’re a self-righteous busybody like Ayrt.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-10 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
What's wrong with being liberal is that both the right and the left hate you and call you "lib" as a heinous insult. The difference is that the left doesn't realize a lot of people who call themselves liberals are in fact exactly as far left as themselves (I, in the US, have an elderly relative who supports local socialist politicians where he can find them and calls himself a liberal), they just didn't get the memo that "liberal" implies "basically centrist" in terminally online language. So we're back to the problem of using the correct lingo being more important than what you actually think and do.
