You’re not wrong at all, but the benefit of doubt also exists. Some kids’ hearts are in a good place and they also need help so as to not be TOO hard on themselves because of fandom activism. Other kids are just bullies or 50-something year old guys disguised as kids who just want to troll and stir shit up because their idea of “fun” is making a point that “there’s too much social Justice nowadays” by pushing discourse to unreasonable extents so ehh depends.

That's certainly true. And IME, people are usually on firmer ground when they're setting limits about behavior, as opposed to making assumptions about the character of the person transgressing.
