Right? I don't know if ayrt is trolling or if they're genuinely so bad at reading while simultaneously being so deeply insecure that a secret about stupid looking wigs in a fantasy TV show makes them sit upright and go, "OMG, OP is clearly calling me out for having long hair!!!!!"

AYRT

It's not that I thought the OP meant to call out anyone real, but I looked at the picture and was thinking "oh, that looks neat, I wonder what canon it corresponds to" and then the text was like "can't take it seriously because of their wigs, so yuck!!"

When, like someone already pointed out, wigs are a perfectly sensible way to deal with a plot that calls for white-blond hair on adults. So I'm still wondering what their problem is.

I think it's maybe a little jarring because the wigs were better in Game of Thrones than in this sequel.

They just have SO MANY wigs in House of the Dragon. I don't envy the hair team! But they look okay to me or I guess I just put that aside when I watch it.

Oh. It makes more sense if the wigs used to be better and people are comparing them. That's context I didn't have.

And I do remember people complaining about the GoT wigs, but this is another level, simply because there's so many

Just recently I read somewhere that light coloured wigs tend to look fake because most wig hair comes from Asia and is therefore naturally dark brown or black. Bleaching and toning it doesn't produce an entirely natural looking result, even though the hair is real human hair.

To compare, apparently Orlando Bloom's Legolas wig in LotR was made of naturally blond nordic human hair, which made it very expensive but also very realistic. I don't know if GoT used non-bleached human hair wigs or if they had some other tricks up their sleeve that HotD doesn't.
