An attempt at rationalization that came right from the characters' mouths sounds so cringe, I can't believe people do that. Like how is that not just embarrassing as hell to write? How do authors type that out and think... yeah, that'll convince people my ship is OK. Yeesh.

I haven't reread Wind in the Willows for ages, and now I wonder if this would bother me, too. When I was a kid, I didn't really notice. I mostly just remember how nice it'd be to picnic with Ratty and ride in a boat, and have dinner with Badger in his cozy den.

Excuse you? I had hair down to the back of my knees in high school and college, and waist length well into my thirties. I didn't usually put part of it in front of my shoulders because it would get in the way, but aside from that, what's supposed to be "daft" or "stupid" about her wig? Or about the guy's hair, for that matter?

A friend in college loved the Mortal Instruments series. She wanted me to read them so badly she gave me like the first 4 books. I tried my best but I hate them. So I would read a detailed summary of the book, return it, rinse and repeat for the others. Had favorite characters and everything, lol.

It's been long enough since I read this that I only have a hazy notion of what you're talking about. I had no idea how to place Rat and Mole in relation to the class system in Britain when I encountered this book, and I guess Badger and Toad would be like less-rich and more-rich nobles, respectively? But feel free to correct that if I'm missing something. It seems like an interesting premise, at least. Although I'm sorry it's diminishing your enjoyment of the story!
