I have been in that position a few times at work. No, I have no idea why they did it. I’m not someone who talks about media much anyway and have a reputation for that and for also being totally chill about “no” responses.

In most cases the person who lied has later gone on to prove that they are untrustworthy in much bigger ways. And I truly believe that the vast majority of compulsive liars over 25 are completely untrustworthy. Because that’s the thing about compulsive lying, they just do it. No thought behind it, it isn’t manipulation, it’s an actual compulsion to reflexively lie. No story they tell is believable. No answer they give can be trusted. And I make no apologies for not wanting to be around people like that *shrug*

"I lied about this one thing in a specific instance" is not "compulsive lying"

You clearly have damage.
