Weekend Plans?

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2023-07-28 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
What is everyone doing?

I thankfully have no plans. :3 So I will probably just be crocheting and gaming. Might try to replant green beans now that our current ones are dead. For once, I am asking another question as well as plans. Does anyone here game? If yes, what games and platforms?

Organizing and typing meeting minutes for the advisory board I'm on; it is as much fun as it sounds (as formatting can be painful)

Oh dear. Do you at least have something fun to listen to?

I worry that listening to anything I would consider fun will make this task take ten times as long, especially if the video contains a really unexpected disclosure (such as the one I played while trying to work on technical stuff yesterday).

Have fun! Heard it is a long watch.

Tomorrow I plan on watching Good Omens S2 (might actually start tonight depending on how tired I am!), listening to podcasts and reading (wanting to find something good and creepy to start because Halloween season has already started as far as I'm concerned!)

Sunday I might do dinner with my parents, but not sure yet.

But mostly staying inside because it's supposed to be in the 100s for the next couple days.

What podcasts are you listening to? I always read creepy stuff (9 out of the 10 books I've read this year are horror). So I might be able to rec something.

Mostly one I recently discovered called Beach Too Sandy, Water Too Wet. It's completely different than what I normally listen to (comedy vs. true crime) but it is hilarious. I've only listened to 40 something episodes and there are almost 300 so it'll be quite awhile before I'm caught up but I love it so far.

I'd love any creepy/horror recs you have!

I love that podcast! Been listening for like a year.

What kind of horror you looking for? Or anything you hate?

I'm really in the mood for something about a creepy/haunted house, but I'm up for anything, really! And I can't think of anything I hate.

How To Sell A Haunted House by Grady Hendrix. It has some amazingly bonkers moments.

House of Leaves by Daniel Mark Z. Danielewski. Super long but fantastic. Took me a year to read and you need a physical copy.

Song for the Unraveling of the World by Brian Evenson. Great collection of short stories.

What Moves The Dead by T. Kingfisher. A retelling of House of Usher.

Mouthful of Birds by Samanta Schweblin. Another collection of short stories.

NOS4A2 by Joe Hill. One of my favorite horror novels. Would be great to read around Christmas.

I've read House of Leaves, What Moves the Dead, and Mouthful of Birds but I will check out the others. Thanks! :)

OMG, someone else who has read Samanta Schweblin? Have you read Fever Dream? Or Seven Empty Houses? It isn't really horror but it is bizarre. BTW, Brian Evenson has the same vibes as Schewblin.

I haven't! I will have to check those two out, and Brian Evenson! Thanks for the recs!

I game! Mostly strategic games and visual novels. Sometimes a rougelike or an RPG, but those are pretty limited nowadays.
I play mainly on PC, my old PSP and the PSVita. I also have a 3DS but I've been not touching since last year.

The last game I play is a hack rom of Fire emblem sacred stones on PSP. it had a new original story and characters. It's like playing a Fanfiction with OCs. Amazing.

As for my plans this week: surviving the discomfort of having two wisdom teeth removed the other day. It doesn't hurt anymore, but the stitches are quite uncomfortable and I think they're already coming off... Which is too soon. I'm kind of worried honestly. Idk.

Oh no! Hopefully the stitches hold long enough so you don't get dry socket or anything. heard that was awful.

If all goes well, a whole lot of nothing. Maybe finish cleaning and organize my August schedule and my folders. Keep reading this novel I am enjoying... and gaming probably.

Mobile for me - back then I used to own a few platforms and play on PC, but it's all very expensive so nowadays I keep to mobile gaming and some lighter games on PC.

I hope the novel is good. What mobile games do you play? I love Bloons.

Thanks and yes I am enjoying it! Same to you, hope your weekend is good!
And I am part of the Genshin crowd now (reminds me of my MMO era πŸ’–) but usually it’s Candy Crush likes and music games tbh.

We went to a brunch, introduced ourselves, and talked about how we first heard of Tolkien. Lots of generational differences so it was fascinating!
