How's your Discover Weekly been lately?

(Anonymous) 2023-08-02 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
For those of you that spotify and care about this feature - how's it been? Mine is totally hit and miss. Last week it had a bunch of accapella christian music, which is pretty much the opposite of what I want to listen to. This week is a weird mix but at least weird with a couple of good new-to-me songs.

Last couple weeks were good. This week was trash.

No worse than usual. One or two good songs, and a bunch of things that I already know and just haven't listened to on Spotify but are similar to things I have listened to on Spotify.

I didn’t know about this feature, but I just took a look and it’s all music I hate.

I let my parents listen to some music - not a whole lot, just, what, 10-15 songs- some months ago and now my algorithm has been shot ever since, no matter what I try. It's only slowly getting fairly normal again. I'm not sure why it keeps doing that.

Bah, humbug....

AO3 has been down all day for me (522 error) - annoying! Haven't seen anything about what's causing it though. Anybody?

Re: Bah, humbug....

(Anonymous) 2023-08-02 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to jinx myself, but it's been fine for me all day. That being said, I have a pretty rigid schedule and only checked it around lunch break and again after work. Just checked it now and it was okay.

Sure it maybe takes a little while for characters to really hit their full vibe, but it's got funny moments from episode one until the end. And I really liked the wrap up season. Just a good solid weird comedy.

MASH. I think it only got better as it went on.

Golden Girls. But that hard for a sitcom I guess.

Breaking Bad for a newer show.

Babylon 5. Season 5 was slightly lower quality but still good.

Star Trek: TNG and DS9.

Legend of the Seeker.

Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Buffy.

Owl House for sure. Also Gravity Falls, which probably is because the creator wanted to end it on his own terms.

What a good cartoon. Solid story from start to finish. The characters, the story, the music, I love everything about that show.

Aye gacha rants

(Anonymous) 2023-08-02 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Hello! It's me again. You may remember me as the woman who had a breakdown in May because of Baizhu.

Other than Genshin I play another gacha game. Because you know, why not. Double the suffering why NOT? I thought I had picked the most forgiving games in the market and would be fine.

So in this other gacha game (Project Sekai by the way) I have two favorite characters and have been saving for a long time to get their limited cards, since cards get only one rerun and worst case scenario you may need to "spark" (that is, spend 90000 crystals) to get 1 card. So my favorite characters got their reruns in June and July, and now there's a new banner (For reference, it's usual to farm 10000 crystals in one month?) I sparked the June card, sparked the July card, and don't have enough crystals to spark the current card because I spent all my savings (around 216000 crystals or 1 year of savings)

Won't say I am terribly pissed off, because the game IS comparatively forgiving, but bro. The last thing I need in my life right now is another source of depression honestly -- love these characters, but fuck this I'm quitting this game. Which sucks because I don't do much in life other than play these but wow gacha can make you feel depressingly unlucky. Trying to tell myself bad luck would get to me in other ways even if I didn't play anything which is likely true but doesn't change the fact that I'm insomniac and listening to Linkin Park right now (thanks Chester you won't be forgotten for as long as your work allows me to jam dramatically to sad moments)
