12 hour nightshifts are the worst. So tired.

Is it bad I got banned on reddit (for trolling conservative subs on an alt) and I am relieved? I was the main moderator of a podcast fan group. I feel bad for my other mods but...I've not enjoyed the podcast in a long time. I've especially not enjoyed having to analyze every episode instead of just listening.

Lol the other day r/conservative was foaming at the mouth because a local TV station somewhere posted a heat advisory. So troll their asses, I say.

Having a case of the Sunday scaries, I guess. Got too much shit to do at work this week, maybe. It feels like it. I don't want to be stressed out but I'm getting stressed out anyway. I hate useless self-evals at work and surprise homework and no idea how to do either, ever. Then there's random shit I have to get done at home because shit happened.

Sundays are for chores. Dishes, laundry, grocery shopping, I should go start dinner.

Also I made soap and I think it'll turn out very nice. I'm getting ahead of Christmas presents this year!

I had company this weekend so I spent today catching up on chores after they left. I thought I'd feel stressed about the visit and mucking with my routines but it's actually been really fun and relaxing!

Laundry, cooking hot dogs for dinner, and getting ready for my mom's birthday tomorrow.

Cleaned out the upstairs apartment of my grandmothers house that my scumbag cousins lived in. You don't want to know what was caked in the radiators.

took a nice nap. Played with my kitty. Watched some youtube videos.

Just watched Talk to Me, which was GREAT. Solid pacing, great acting (especially from the mains), *just* enough of Horror As Metaphor For Having A Real Bad Time to satisfy the usual A24 crowd without losing itself in that over the horror (my main problem w/ a lot of A24 horror), some killer practical gore. All in all it's EASILY the best horror movie to hit theaters so far this year imo (though 2023 has been,,, really fucking dull for horror in general lol)

Absolutely nothing for the first time in a long time. Feels good.

Yesterday was laundry, today was washing dishes. Now I'm relaxing with a movie.

bought a lot of groceries and a new pair of pants. I had to go to 12 different stores to find pants.

Read some more of the novel I was into. Realized I am too envious of the protagonists (FICTIONAL! Characters!!) and that it can’t possibly be healthy and now am trying to rationalize my feelings :( other than that - socializing

I slept super late and have been hanging around being lazy. I really need to do laundry and clean but I don't feel like it.

Did a little housecleaning to prepare for my sister coming over and then I ordered Mexican food and we are hanging out!

Next time she's over at the house I'll be off in a hotel and won't see her much, so it's nice to watch a couple movies, treat her to a really good horchata, and share memes from across the room. Tomorrow we're going to our favorite Japanese grocery store.

Did laundry, cleaned litterboxes, played a lot of FF14.

...I had seen what they called "the Great Serpent of Ronka" around as a minion and in fan art and so I was aware that clearly something not-serious was going on there - but I just got to that questline and omg so far it is perhaps equally stupid to the Hildibrand quests, made all the more amusing because the chief idiot is a big tough-looking Au Ra guy. XD

...and it features the son of a legendary storm chaser named "Bill," and it's not the Twister sequel?

It's really bad, btw. Everything is so dramatic and everyone is needlessly antagonistic toward one another. This kid's mother is like, "HOW DARE YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR DEAD FATHER" and this dude sent the kid his father's journal, and when the kid shows up he's like, "HOW DARE YOU THINK YOU CAN TALK TO ME ABOUT YOUR FATHER AFTER I MAILED YOU SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR FATHER."

This writer went to the "if you have two characters treat each other nicely and behave like actual humans at any point, the audience will be bored" school of screenwriting.

Anyone have late night musings?

I was thinking about the most recent serious fandom I had joined and why I left it.

And I guess...I just wonder why some people act so confusing?

I had a friend who I knew outside the fandom and when I joined the fandom they were welcoming and helped me navigate the fandom at first, which I appreciated very much.
But after a while I noticed this pattern of said friend being super "this fandom is so fun with all its silliness" laced in with seemingly out of nowhere comments being super critical of the fandom.
Like one time we were talking about a canon event and I expressed excitement along with the fandom and my friend said something to the effect of, "Yeah but you know it's not real. I swear, some fans will eat all this shit up as if it's real."

Like...I can't figure out if they have strong conflicting opinions because they have a love/hate relationship with fandom...and like, are they aware of it?

I wanted to ask my friend but based upon conversations in the past I got the feeling my friend would dismiss my inquiry as a cynical question and not respond truthfully. Or they'd get defensive and start telling me every judgmental thing they'd ever wanted to tell me that I do to turn the conversation into being about me (I had confronted them over being dismissive of my feelings and they responded by telling me I was dismissive of their feelings in the past and then wrote a laundry list of reasons as to why I am in the wrong, not them).
We stopped being friends a while ago, but I still wonder why they were always so hot and cold with the fandom?

Like, I get that we can be critical of the things we enjoy but sometimes I wonder if we can be a little oblivious as to when to be critical?

I feel like there's immense pressure on people to constanyly mentally police themselves. Especially when they're enjoying themselves.
