Biggest, Smallest, Never-Again and Most Favorite Fandoms

Kind of like death, marry or kill but fandom edition. OR - if you have only been in one/fewer than 4 fandoms; what was the best part/worst part of your fandom experience so far and a fanwork that has stayed with you the longest (like an amv you think of when you hear a song or THE fanfic that you love the most, etc)

Biggest: Either Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh!

Smallest: Black★Rock Shooter.

Never Again: RWBY. That fandom is the reason for many of my current boundaries.

Most Favorite: DM-era Yu-Gi-Oh! Two of my favorite fics for it are ribcages (https://archiveofourown.org/works/1126934) and Kesil (https://archiveofourown.org/works/10967766)

Biggest: Hetalia
Smallest: Charlie the Unicorn
Favorite: Toss-up between Star Trek DS9 and xxxHolic. Both have ships that have reduced me into an emotional mess that was prodded by some fantastic fanworks.

Also my Never-Again: Sanders Sides. Will keep watching the series, but the fandom space gives me a headache.

Biggest: Harry Potter, MCU, and LOTR in the early 2000s

Smallest: Larp. There's a few hundred of us and maybe a dozen "hype" posts every month. It's fantastic and I know folks personally. We have lore and meta and shit for each others characters. I don't even want to name it, it's too intimate.

Most Favorite: Comic books. Which, yes, is super broad BUT there are like 6 super heroes I love and by god I adore them all and every new panel is a joy.

Never Again: Avatar the Last Airbender/Korra. It's not that they were especially bad I will just never go for a cartoon aimed at kids ever again. Shit got rough in there, it was humiliating and toxic, and the fanworks didn't make up for it like the biggest fandoms.

I never thought of ATLA as a kids' cartoon, more like that really rare thing, an all ages cartoon.

And yet, it aired on Nickelodeon and stars an 11 year old. It is an excellent show but it is 100% targeted at children. There is no shame in this, I do not say this to malign AtLA in any way, but it is a foundational fact.

Agreeing with this - during 2020 I had watched Avatar for the first time with my 70 year old Dad and he loved it.

Biggest: MCU
Smallest: Not sure, been in some very tiny fandoms before (handful of people). Usually for indie games.
Never again: Homestuck. I have the most awful horror stories from this fandom. Today I still don't follow anyone online if they post a lot of Homestuck or have it as their avatar because of the bad associations.
Favorite: Comics more generally speaking like the above anon, love the medium and have some absolutely favorite characters

Smallest: Multiple fandoms-of-one, some of which would deanon me.

Biggest: Star Wars, MCU and Doctor Who

Smallest: Simoun or Fafner in the Azure, probably.

Never Again: Doctor Who and Blakes 7. The worst of my horror stories come from these two fandoms.

Most Favorite: Comics. There are some characters and teams that I will love until I die, and I had so much fun in comics fandom.

Biggest: probably either Star Wars, Doctor Who, or MCU
Smallest: Legend of the Seeker at this point probably
Never-Again: Harry Potter, because Rowling is trash
Favorite: Silmarillion/Tolkien fandom, hands down

Biggest- Stray Kidz. This is probably the biggest bandom I'm in right now and I'm still just a baby, lol.

Smallest- SaGa Frontier. I was and still am obsessed with this game and the characters.

Never Again- Voltron: Legendary Defender. I shouldn't even have to say why.
