Edit: just adding, but...

SPOILER another movie that left me feeling that way was The Boy. I was so convinced it was a movie about an old couple mourning the dead of their son via the doll (which I thought was possesed) and it was giving me some melancholy feels. And then the killer came through the wall like the Kool-aid man and started murdering everyone.

I see fandom is being fandom again... Like, it's great to have whatever personal headcanon you find the most fun way to interpret the characters. People aren't doing anything wrong by disagreeing and going with their own personal headcanon. It's so weird that they've rationalized how it would be literally impossible for it to be any other way (and even if it WERE canon, I throw away parts of canon I don't care for all the time...).
