OP, you're toxic. Same as someone unable to make fanart uses filters on screencaps, photoshops badly and makes AI promts for their characters, a person who's not great an fic writing promts AI. There's no profit, it's just an enjoyement and sharing excitement.

I'm appalled at all the supporting comments here. Didn't know that fs is pro cancelling and calling out culture. Though with all the crazy opinions on some topics I shouldn't be surprised.

Not wanting machine-generated "works" posted alongside fic written by actual human beings isn't "cancel culture". People aren't calling out people for enjoying their time with AI generators, they're calling them out for posting it on websites meant for actual human-created works and acting like it's comparable in any way.

Personally, I agree that it's annoying for AI-generated work to be posted, because right now AI isn't good enough to make work that's of comparable quality to good human work. So right now, AI-generated fic being posted is essentially spamming shitty unreadable no-good fic.

But it's possible that AI fic will get better in the future. And IDK how I'll feel then, if we get to the point where AI fic is good enough that I can't tell it's AI fic without being told beforehand.

Objecting to someone using cheats to create art is not "cancel culture," and the fact that one cheats for "enjoyment" does not make it less of a cheat. You might as well say that we shouldn't call people out for plagiarism, because "it's just an enjoyment and sharing excitement."

Well, fanfiction itself is plagiarism.
Most fanartists use 'cheats', textures and ready made images.
Bad fanartists use bases and straight up contouring.

I also write fic and don't mind. Actually I'm a bit interested in AI beta for SPAG and stylistic choices as I miss so many typos in my fic.

It's not hurting me personally either, but it hurts the artists who's works were stolen for training the datasets and who people are trying to push out off business/force to lower their rates via AI generated works. That's enough for me.
