They absolutely exist, and as other anons pointed out people do that shit with government aid and stuff too. But they're just not a huge deal? Yes, they're gross. Yeah, it sucks when they try and spread and justify their bullshit beliefs. And it sucks when they hurt people.

But just keep not being friends with or dating them and you should be fine. Assholes gonna asshole; ignore them. Flip them off if you absolutely must.

It comes from the idea that women are gatekeepers to sex (see the whole belongs-to-nonexistant-husband thing) so in order for men to get sex without marriage first, they feel like they have to trick women into it. Either by paying for it (either straight out sex work, or paying for dates, buying drinks, etc etc) or by pretending to be interested in a relationship (playing the "game"). Thus, they "get one over" on a woman or "win" against her. Even when she just wants to bang, no games needed. Because if she were a proper moral woman she would be protecting her virtue. If she gives it up, either of her own accord or through "trickery" then she's a horrible person and therefore not worthy of being treated like a person. It ties in with toxic masculinity as well. It's all a toxic soup of bad.

The wacky thing is that they don't realize they could get the thing they want (more sex, more often) if they didn't take this view of women.

I tried to point this out to an MGTOW, once. He was mad that women didn't want "no strings attached" sex, that they always expected some kind of relationship to go along with it. At the same time, he and his fellow MGTOW would lambast women who had sex outside the context of a relationship, call them worthless whores and such. I pointed out that this was contradictory, and that he was shooting himself in the foot: women are less likely to want the NSA sex he craves if they get shamed and ridiculed for it. He could not get it, no matter how many different ways I tried to explain it.

I wonder about him, sometimes. He also told me that he had no friends, and mentioned he found it suspicious when someone cooked him breakfast once. It makes me suspect that these type of men might be miserable in general, and women unfortunately bear the brunt of it.
